I have worked in the hotel industry for over 30 years now. I firmly believe in treating my guests and my staff with respect and courtesy, as I cannot do my job without either of those two groups. Honesty and integrity are vital. Community involvement is something that you MUST do in this age. I have been involved with the Tour De Rock Nanaimo organizing committee for the last two years. The Cops For Cancer Tour De Rock is an incredible autumn fundraising event, raising funds for Camp GoodTimes, and for pediatric cancer research. I am currently secretary treasurer of the Nanaimo Hospitality Association(NHA), and have been an active board member for 6 years. I was involved in the creation and implementation of the initial MRDT and the business plan to administer the funds to promote tourism in this community. The NHA is working actively with Tourism Nanaimo, Tourism Vancouver Island, and the Vancouver Island Conference Centre with the overriding goal of "putting heads in beds" and ensuring the success of our industry.
