I love old 4x4 trucks and baseball caps. I've lived in rural America for most of my life. For me, trucks and ball caps are symbols of some of the hardest working people on earth: farmers and ranchers. In fact, I'm writing my about section here from my home office from a farmer's field near a booming town of 900 people in Idaho... so I'm all in on the farm and ranch lifestyle. Naturally, living in a rural area and being intrigued by the Internet in the late 90s during my teens, I ended up meeting my wife online in a chat room in 2001... got married in 2003 and gravitated toward Internet entrepreneurship when I launched an eBay store in 2004... then a marketing agency in 2005... and I haven't stopped since then as I recently launched (in 2020) and am the CEO at Specialist.PH! Over the years I discovered a system for marketing leadership that I hope, if you've read this far, will help you on your journey as it has helped me on mine... here it is: 1) Plan. Write down what you intend to do and how you intend to do it. Or have your team / manager do this. 2) Brief. Share what you wrote down with your team or if they do the planning then they share their plan with you. Walk through the plan with everyone needed to implement the plan. 3) Certify. As a leader, it's important to 'certify' people who will do the execution of the plan. Ask them questions, make sure they understand what, why, and how - at a minimum. 4) Execute. Let your team execute on the plan - as long as they have been certified to do so by you. 5) Debrief. Recap all that was accomplished or learned throughout the project or campaign or task, and thoroughly review the results. Ask more questions and ensure all possible insights are documented and rehashed so the entire team learns and grows.
