Experience in regulatory engagement includes the European Central Bank (ECB), the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). — I am presently a Managing Director at Citibank, serving as both EMEA and APAC head of a new payments unit which seeks to enable digital commerce for corporate clients by providing streamlined access to locally relevant payment methods across the globe. The new unit sits within the Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) business. Prior to Citi, I was an equity partner (Strategy and Transactions) in EY where I led the organisation’s financial technology capability across APAC - with a particular focus on digital banking, payments and loyalty, cross-industry convergence, and digital transformation. Operating as part of the EY-Parthenon strategy business, I also served as APAC leader of EY’s global payments practice. Prior to EY, I helped build and scale an alternative-finance platform leveraging payments transaction data to enable banks and acquirers to profitably offer short-term unsecured loans to underserved small businesses. Before that, I led a variety of product and partner initiatives for a European e-commerce payment gateway combining direct-to-market customer acquisition with white-labelled full-service delivery for partner banks. I hold a Master of Science in Economics (First Class Honours) and a Master / Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours), as well as various financial (incl. accounting) and technical qualifications. I have sat on a variety of industry advisory groups, and been regularly quoted in international media (Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Bloomberg, Reuters, etc.) — Father of four.
