why isn't it about replacing jobs?

Everyone's addicted to their job... other than money I don't understand the obsessive need to tie ones identity to a career.... this seems like a very limited way of living life.

plus when these guys are talking about not replacing jobs they're thinking about their own jobs which is creating fun exciting things like this all day.

but that's not 99.9% of jobs, most jobs are the routine repetitive tasks that they are trying to replace with AI.

so this statement is not only silly in my mind as an aspiration, it's also tone deaf and ignorant to the plight of the vast majority of humanity for which their repetitive skill based job is their life.

my dad has been a truck driver my entire life and the majority of his.

even after retiring he got a second part time job driving a different kind of truck because that's what he knows and that's what he does and he enjoys it.

if all the vehicles were self-driving and there was no longer a need for delivery drivers long haul or or local.... he probably spend his day fishing.

if you didn't have to do your job and weren't worried about money what would you do all day instead?

to me those are the types of questions AI should be opening up... because frankly I don't want AI to help me do my job better.

I want AI to replace all the jobs so that I don't have to do a job just so that I can live.

then I can spend my day creating art, sharing experiences with friends, traveling to places I've never seen, and philosophying on concepts larger than ourselves.

and as technology advances we have the opportunity as a society to have this type of a life for everyone.

but instead we tiptoe around it because everyone's scared of losing their income because we've made a world that is addicted.

but go to any store or office  and ask anyone who's not executive level leader and  I would imagine the majority of them wouldn't do it for free.

and before you come back saying I wouldn't either I already have - for the last 2 years I haven't earned a paycheck at all.

I spent that 2 years chasing every interest and hobby that my heart has wanted

I've learned so much about myself, about machine learning, about Film production, about UX, business and financing.... I got paid for none of it.

but it was the best investment in myself I could have made.

and It's upsetting to me that so few people will have the opportunity to take a multi-year hiatus like I did.

(to be honest it's a little bit annoying that I can't make it a multi-decade hiatus but the reality of the world is that we currently require all but a handful of individuals to waste the majority of their lives so that those handful can enjoy theirs to the fullest.)

this is not an anti-capitalism pro communism anti-money pro crypto blah blah rant....

it's a wake up call.

because despite what they say AI is coming for your job...and that's a good thing. If you're ready.

Volume is by far one of the coolest tech innovations.

While we've seen it already in major films like the Batman and Shazam (featured below 👇) it being used more and more now.

It wouldn't surprise me to see similar tech in use at theaters, museums, or even casinos to create more immersive environments for guests.

In the mean, it's allowing smaller budget films and shows (like 1899 & the mandalorian) to environments out of time and place without having to build all of it practically or forcing their actors to work off a green screen.

Now with AR, VR, and AI generation - the industry is seeing a lot of new options for storytelling.

 Technology is making the creative industry better on a daily basis.
