James is the Principal Clinical Pharmacist with demonstrated history of working in various public healthcare facilities, including major and minor specialist hospitals for more than 13 years. He is skilled in clinical pharmacy (pharmacotherapy), clinical research, drug information services, as well as drug safety issues. He actively precepted and trained more than 30 provisionally registered pharmacists and young fully registered pharmacists for a decade, sharing his knowledge and skills in pharmacotherapy and critical care pharmacy. At present, he is the ICU clinical pharmacist as well as Head of Clinical Pharmacy Unit at Department of Pharmacy, Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan, Sabah and overseeing 14 staffs under his care. He also currently holds key responsibilities as a member of Pharmacy Research & Development Committee and Clinical Pharmacy Working Committee under jurisdication of Pharmaceutical Services Division, Sabah State Health Department. He was a recipient of the prestigious Malaysia Public Service Department (PSD / JPA) Scholarship to pursue first degree in 2007 and he successfully received his Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours degree from Monash University, Australia in 2010. He was also a recipient of Federal Training Award and Study Leave with Full Remuneration plus Scholarship from Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia to pursue Master of Pharmacy (Clinical Pharmacy) in 2017, and later graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2018. In addition, he is recognized as Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) from USA since 2016 (recertified in 2023) for his clinical pharmacy expertise. Throughout his working tenure, he had published few local guidelines, papers and proceedings (https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4660-4240) and won several awards for the research presentation in conferences. One of highest awards was the second place winner for Oral Presentation under Pharmacy Practice category at 8th National Pharmacy Research & Development Conference 2014, Malaysia. He also received Excellence Services Award twice (year 2015 & 2023) from Sabah State Health Department, MOH Malaysia based on his outstanding performance and contribution towards healthcare services in the hospital. Fun facts: He is a Grade 8 electronic organ enthusiast. In addition, he is also an International Doping Control Officer as well as graduate of International Olympic Committee Certificate in Drugs in Sport (IOC-DiS) and had been involved in multiple international and national sports events since 2017.
