Casual Retail Sales Assistant at Collins Booksellers Sale. Having started as an after school junior, this role has evolved over time from doing the most basic of tasks such as tidying the store and stocking shelves, too assisting customers in person, over the phone and through social media. Initially establishing the Collins Booksellers Sale Instagram page and posting there and on Facebook when asked. Other tasks including taking payments and placing customer orders for stock not on hand, as well as processing invoices or working on returns.

If you asked me to describe my job, I would tell you I work in sales but I don't do the selling part.

I recently saw a post of someone complaining about sales people putting meeting invites into their calendar without notice, which got me thinking.

While I agree the example provided seemed a bit too assumptive, I disagree with the general sentiment of the comment section on the post.

Sure, it might seem annoying someone placing some time in your calendar but that doesn't mean you have to accept and I also find it can be a lot more effective than a simple cold call as it protects time on both ends.

It also give you some power in saying yes this time works, this other time will work better or you could be honest and say you simply don't see any value in meeting.

I don't think it should be an immediately block, I'm never talking to you like some were saying. I think the bigger issue is the execution, provide context in the invite, send a text alongside and make it worth everyone time 📅
