UGRacing

Had an amazing 2 years leading the Driverless team (see below), but now ready to focus on my degree and other challenges. Sticking around to help the new management team as they need advice or problems arise.

Advisor

Spent 2 years heading up 30 students on the UGRacing Driverless team. We won consecutive third place (out of 20) at the IMechE Formula Student AI competition. Over 200% points increase from 269 points in 2022 to 594 in 2024.

Responsibilities included:
- Technical report writing and presentation delivery.
- Project management following agile development methodologies.
- Organising testing sessions, securing insurance, and writing risk assessments.
- Working with industry and academic partners to secure funding for the team.

Head of Driverless

Joined UGRacing as a fresher in 2021 and quickly started leading the new Simulation and Testing subteam. Got stuck in enough that I was asked to lead the Driverless branch.

Completed two summer internships (after first and second-year) and worked on short-term cybersecurity research projects. Also worked part-time during university term-time and contributed to research for a regular technology report.

Volunteered as an Officer Cadet in the RAF during first-year. Completed RAF aptitude tests, some pilot training, weapons handling practice, and quite a bit more. Joining the UAS is the first thing I recommend to people starting at uni in the UK.

My first official software job. Worked part-time during A-Levels and through first-year of university on a range of projects, from an e-learning platform in partnership with ESA to running the backend of a weekly space-themed talk show.
