Raised in a family-run restaurant business, Jamie launched his first concept in 2012, later partnering with a UK PLC to scale multiple locations. Since relocating full-time to Mallorca in 2019, he has built deep local expertise, speaks Mallorquín, and has raised over €100M in institutional capital across ventures.

Muss Styling established its self as the UK's premium Auto Styling centre. We provided the exclusive after market styling for Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin and other blue chip dealerships. Attracting A list clients such as Anthony Joshua, Floyd Mayweather and  Premier League footballers. The business then received VC funding before its unfortunate collapse. In this time I learnt the foundations of my fundraising knowledge, how to avoid bad deals and how to grow a luxury operation.

Ninety Nine Fast Food

Ninety Nine was the first ever healthy fast food store in Newcastle. In 2013 we pioneered at home delivery of grocery boxes and recipe meals. We gained a huge following, transformed the fast dining scene and were acquired by Malhotra PLC after scaling to multiple sites.

Biglukes Buffet

Biglukes was a very busy buffet restaurant in Europe's largest shopping centre. Serving over 10m customers, I was responsible for the operational costs of the business and lead the company to record results before its private sale.

I grew up in restaurants. My mum opened her first sandwich shop at 21 and later ran a buffet in Newcastle city centre. We were only closed three days a year—Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Easter Sunday. The rest was go, go, go. High volume, low margin, full throttle service. I was raised in pressure. Conditioned to deliver. That environment taught me more about business than any textbook ever could.

In 2012, I launched Newcastle’s first healthy fast food company. I scaled it to multiple sites, built out meal prep and catering arms, and exited through a PLC partnership. Then I created one of the UK’s leading automotive styling businesses, working with Premier League footballers, luxury brands like Rolls-Royce, and high-profile personalities.

I didn’t start with capital. I started with grit, clarity, and the ability to outwork anyone.

But in 2018, everything collapsed. A toxic VC deal took it all away. I moved my young family to Spain with nothing but a secondhand laptop and a refusal to quit.

That’s when I found fundraising.

Over the next 6.5 years, I raised over £100 million from pre-seed to Series A+. I worked with more than 150 companies and became known as Europe’s #1 early-stage fundraising advisor. Founders called me when the round had to close. I got the job done.

I’ve worked with A-list celebrities, global athletes, world-class brands, and breakout startups. I’ve built personal brands, created investor narratives, and minted more millionaires than I can count.

But it came at a cost.

I missed birthdays. Holidays. Family moments I can’t relive. Fundraising is relentless. 24/7. Every day someone’s cup final. Desperation before breakfast. Deck edits on Christmas morning.

So I stepped back.

I’ve retired from early-stage work. That chapter’s done.

Now I focus on helping more mature companies scale faster, sharpen their operations, and get ready for high-value outcomes, whether that’s growth, investment, or acquisition.

In 2018 my VC backed business went bust. In 2025 I lost everything again to a rare Bone Marrow Cancer.

After building a successful healthy fast food business with multiple sites in 2013, I moved into my other passion. I built the largest indoor automotive styling business in the north. We won Rolls Royce contracts. We worked with A list celebrities, Olympic champions and elite athletes. Built a massive YouTube and social following. 

A few bad funding decisions and a lot of naivety brought the whole thing down. 

I lost everything. 

The crash was brutal and the darkness that comes afterward is something I would not wish on anyone. I felt completely broken by it. To be very honest I was ready to go with it. 

It took my confidence, my direction and every part of the life I was trying to build. 

I moved to Spain with nothing and spent nearly seven years rebuilding brick by brick. I worked with hundreds of founders and helped raise more than €150 million. I wrote 13 percent of all successful crowdfunding rounds in Europe in 2020. I built communities for thousands of entrepreneurs and slowly rebuilt my own life through hard work and time.

In 2025 I lost it all again when I was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow cancer. I have not been able to work since the summer and everything I had rebuilt has fallen away, eroded piece by piece.

Now the fight is on two fronts. 

My health and the future of my work. 

The truth is brutally simple. 

You can only reach the finish line if you survive long enough to get there.

Success is impossible without health. Some people get to take the lucky route. 

Some of us get hit twice. 

Some of us have to rebuild more than once.

I am not finished. I just need to win the first battle to earn my chance to start again.

August 26th changed everything.

I was taken into hospital and after nearly 3 weeks was diagnosed with a rare blood and bone marrow cancer. 

It did not appear out of nowhere. I had migraines for years, a bad episode in January and months of feeling wrong leading up to summer.

Every symptom was dismissed as stress or burnout, including by me.

My first reaction was fear. 

I did not want to tell anyone in case people thought I was weak or unreliable.
 
I worried about losing work and opportunities. It is strange how quickly illness makes you question your value.

I am sharing this because I want people to take their health seriously. Do not ignore symptoms. Do not let everything be written off as stress. Get your bloods done and stay on top of it. Early action matters more than you realise.

I haven't worked now since August and everything I had built is pretty much gone. I will document the rebuild like I always have. If this post helps even one person catch something early or feel less alone, it is worth writing.

Zero brand partnerships, monetisation routes that won't destroy your reputation. 

You can't sell it, you can't use it for anything apart from shill your followers and connections. 

Remove the ego and the dopamine from impressions and your left with diddly squat. 

I'll go on record to say LinkedIn is the absolute worst Value to Time trade-off for any start up founder. 

If you want to build content and media go do it on a platform that rewards you with something meaningful.

Don't take it for granted.

It is okay if the only thing you managed was getting through it. 

It is okay if you went backwards. 

Progress is not always forwards.

Sometimes the most painful stretches of life are the ones that shape you the most, even if no one else can see it happening.

If you survived a year that took more than it gave, you still moved. 

You still fought. 

You still carried yourself through days that would have flattened a weaker version of you.

I'm proud of you.

Medical gaslighting is not always intentional. Sometimes it is the easy answer.

I have lived at a relentless pace since 2012. 

Sixteen hour days. Five or six hours sleep. Ten calls a day. Fifty calls a week. Constant WhatsApp groups, non stop pitch decks, fundraising rounds, strategy, operations. The list goes on. 

I built the North East largest automotive styling company with VC backing. I opened a healthy fast food chain. I raised more than £150 million for early stage startups. I ran restaurants that opened seven days a week and only closed three days a year. 

High pressure has been my normal for more than a decade.

Because of that, every symptom I ever had was written off as burnout.

Migraine? Burnout.
Fatigue? Burnout.
Crashes? Burnout.
Leg pain? Burnout.
Muscle ache? Burnout.
Brain fog? Burnout.

Even at GP appointments I was told it was burnout without a single blood test. 

When I told friends or colleagues how I felt, they said the same. 

Stress. Overworking. Burnout. 

No one thought I was being dramatic. They just saw the workload and reached for the easiest label.

Burnout has become a catch-all term that hides real medical problems. 

It is used so quickly that people stop looking any deeper. That is the danger. 

Because all of the symptoms I live with now were there long before my diagnosis. They were just dismissed one by one.

I am sharing this because I want people to take their health seriously. 

Do not let everything be explained away by your job, your ambition or your pace.

Burnout is real, but it should never replace proper medical checks.

If something feels wrong, push. Ask for tests.
