This might be uncomfortable to hear, but asking a recruiter for a coffee chat or to pick our brain usually isn't the most effective approach.

We want to help - it's in our nature.  But here's what we're managing:
• active searches
• hiring managers
• live candidates
• deadlines that don’t move

When someone asks for a “quick coffee chat” with no context, what it often sounds like is:
“Can you spend 30 minutes helping me figure things out?”

That’s a big ask before we know if:
• there’s role alignment
• there’s timing fit
• we can actually help
And if there isn’t even a role we’re working on that aligns with your background, it’s usually a hard pass.

It’s not personal. It’s a time + relevance problem.

The better alternative?
Skip the coffee chat ask and send a clear, succinct note instead.

Anchor the message in alignment, not advice - for example:
“I work in Product Marketing leadership at Series A-B SaaS companies. If you’re hiring in this space later this year, I’d love to stay on your radar. My resume is attached.”

That gives us context, respects time, and makes it easy to respond.

The bottom line is coffee chats aren’t bad per se, but unfocused asks are.

I’m hiring a fulltime remote Client CFO (Director-level) to serve as a fractional CFO to a portfolio of high-growth DTC, CPG, and consumer brands.

This is not a traditional in-house CFO role and it’s not pure advisory either. It’s a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who:
• loves being close to founders and decision-making
• is equally comfortable in Excel, on investor calls, and in the boardroom
• enjoys juggling multiple clients and building better ways of working

This is for someone who has:
• strong experience in finance leadership roles (past experience in a multi-client role is required)
• a deep understanding of consumer business models (DTC, retail, omnichannel, wholesale)
• strong FP&A and modeling skills, with experience in budgeting, building multi-year 3-statement modeling, and operational forecasting

Must be based in the U.S.

Strong comp + upside tied to performance.
