The Mega Maxi

I am a Web3 Writer. Officially, a Creative Writer, I use my talents in the following ways.

1. Creative Writing - I drive the organization's new content on Web3 careers. I've written over 10 in-depth guides to getting a Web3 job in today's environment.

2. Technical Writing - I provide written content on NFT projects and technology. I constructed a Beginner's Guide to Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

3. Content Strategy - together with the editors, I pitch content strategy and suggestions for the upcoming weeks.

4. Business Development - I help close partnerships and interviews for our latest series Proof of Work (POW), a Web3 founder feature series.

Creative Writer

As a Product Owner, I have main accountability and ownership of the organization's Web3, digital asset, and crypto currency strategy.

1. Leadership - managed the design and development of a new Digital Asset (cryptocurrency) Exchange and management platform. Functionalities include cryptocurrency buy, sell, send, receive, hold, and fiat currency deposit and withdrawal functions.

2. User Experience Research - interviewed Web3 gaming guild managers and scholars and utilized their insights in creating the digital asset exchange.
 
3. Design - worked closely with the UX designers to create user journeys and product wireframes via Figma.
 
4. User Story Writing - drafted business requirements and composed user stories on Atlassian Jira for execution by the development team.
 
5. Risk Assessment - conducted risk assessments for relevant digital assets and cryptocurrencies to mitigate compliance and reputational risks.

6. Business Development - acquired Web3 communities and ecosystems to onboard onto the digital asset exchange. 

7. Risk Policy Formulation - drafted the following Board-approved policies to be embedded across the Bank – Risk Management Framework, Credit Risk Management Policy, Environment & Social Risk Policy.

8. Communication - educated colleagues on the blockchain in weekly Crypto Banter sessions.

AVP - Product Owner

Advance

Advance is the first and only wage access provider in the Philippines. The organization is improving financial inclusion and providing affordable access to credit throughout the Philippines. Advance partners with employers to provide on-demand and affordable employee benefits. Employees can access a portion of their salaries on-demand, anytime, anywhere, with instant disbursements, and without collateral.

The following competencies were used during my tenure as Head of Credit and Risk:

1) Credit and Risk Management: took charge of the overall health of the loan portfolio by creating analytical tools and reports to breakdown the various flows of non-performing loans and defaulted loans. I then recommended that accounts be remediated or additional loan exposures to be capped. Non Performing Loan Ratio at less than 3% p.a.

2) Credit and Risk Scoring: developed credit scoring sheets to be used during sales acquisition which led to more efficient sales targeting.

3) Policy Creation: set-up and implemented various credit and risk policies such as but not limited to industry and Company limits, and pilots to non-regular employee segments.

4) Product Design: enhanced the verification and know your customer (KYC) platforms of the company which led to fully-automated approvals, without human intervention.

Head Of Credit and Risk

First Circle

First Circle is a Philippine-based fintech lender which is improving financial inclusion and access to credit. It is an unsecured finance provider that caters to Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). To date the company has raised over USD25M in funding and is the most well-funded startup in the Philippines.

The following competencies were utilized during my tenure:

1. Credit and Risk Management: acted as Credit Committee Member (Crecom) and performed final loan approval for the company's entire loan book. Over my stay we approved and disbursed over USD30,000,000 project financing and trade financing loans to hundreds of Philippine-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

2. Policy Design: formulated and reviewed credit and risk policy designs and updates. I authored the launch of lending programs to cooperatives as well as to riskier segments (those who had negative credit histories).

3. Leadership: headed the 15-member Risk Operations Department composed of Know Your Client (KYC) teams and verification teams. In addition, I created and implemented career ladders and key performance metrics for the department, granting direct reports a clear career path in the company.

4. Training and Development: facilitated Credit 101 and Career Advancement workshops.

5. Performance Management: conducted one on one (1:1) performance meetings, Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) setting, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reviews.

6. Hiring & Talent Acquisition: interviewed over one hundred (100) applicants, and on-boarded seven (7) new joiners.

Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company

The Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company, commonly known as Metrobank, is the second largest universal bank in the Philippines with an asset size of USD50Billion. It is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange.

The following competencies were developed during my service in the company:

1) Credit and Risk Analysis: composed credit reports for two investment-grade Japanese corporations. The results were used by senior management to guide the final approval of USD40,000,000 worth of corporate loans.

2) Industry Research: drafted industry reports on the global container shipping and bulk shipping industry, and Japanese leasing industry. The research guided management in making final loan approvals.

Credit Analyst (Tokyo Office)

Conjunct Consulting

Conjunct Consulting is committed to strengthening social good organizations by engaging, mobilizing and empowering talent in Singapore. Since its inception, it has worked with over 140 social good organizations, through 200+ consulting projects and corporate skills-based programs engaging over 1000 volunteers. 

They help non-profit organisations and social enterprises with its Strategy, Research & Implementation Projects. With low-cost, high-quality workshops and projects, its consulting services are accessible to all.

As Lead Intern at the project, the following skills were enhanced:

1) Leadership: spearheaded a team of 6 interns to ensure the timely delivery of a Japanese non-profit organization’s fund-raising strategy and implementation timeline.

2) Industry Research: gathered insights from Japanese corporate donors and non-profit organizations that resulted in 3 fund-raising strategies for a Japanese non-profit organization. I also analyzed data such as MSCI ratings and FTSE ratings which led to a corporate-donor target list of 50 names. I also explored innovative sources of financing such as crowd-sourcing, carbon credits, and social impact investing.

3). Relationship Management: constantly communicated with the client using e-mail, Skype, and face-to-face meetings.

Strategy Consultant

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is the oldest bank in Southeast Asia. It is the third largest bank in the Philippines with an asset size of USD44Billion. It is publicly-listed company on the Philippine Stock Exchange. BPI is part of the Ayala Group of Companies.

The Top Corporates Division handles the top 1000 corporations in the Philippines and large publicly-listed conglomerates.

1. Financial Valuation and Modeling: performed financial valuation and modeling of two publicly-listed companies involved in real estate and fast food distribution. The result of which was USD500,000,000 in new corporate loan approvals.

2. Due Diligence: toured and conducted financial analysis on a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant which led to the grant of a USD1,000,000 operating lease facility.

3. Public-speaking: orally presented over a dozen accounts to the credit committee composed of senior management with a 100% approval rate.

Credit Relationship Assistant Manager (Top Corporates Division)

The Japanese Corporates Division handles Asian multinationals such as Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese accounts as well as clients located in the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.

1. Relationship Management: worked closely with relationship managers and other banking units to land a USD20,000,000 corporate notes facility deal with a publicly-listed semiconductor company

2. Executive Interviews: spoke to ver 50 Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, and other C-Suite employees to gain business insights and come up with the best banking solutions.

3. Credit and Risk Management: performed financial review, credit and risk analysis on 65 borrowing accounts with USD300,000,000 in active loans, and achieved a consistent past due rate of 0% for three consecutive years.

4. Industry Research: as part of a team of 4, created industry and benchmark reports for the financing and leasing and automobile distribution sectors. The reports are referenced by senior management during credit reviews.

5. Leadership: mentored 5 corporate banking trainees in credit analysis and client management. 4 of the trainees went on to become credit officers in different divisions.

Credit Relationship Assistant Manager (Japanese Corporates and PEZA Division)

The Management Training Program is the Bank of the Philippine Islands' 8 month intensive program designed to develop  a pool of  managers by exposing them to the foundations, processes, and transactions of Corporate Banking. Only 5% of 300 applicants are accepted into the program.

* Worked in a team of 4 to conduct a cost-savings paper for the bank. The team aimed to reduce errors in the Real Thrills Deposit Marketing campaign and expected to save USD10,000 in transaction costs 
* Trained in Corporate Banking functions such as relationship management, credit evaluation, and financial analysis.
* Shadowed relationship managers during client meetings.
* Attended training such as business presentation skills, anti-money laundering, and check and cash fraud verification.
