I teach parents and caregivers how to nurture children’s early brain development through the introduction of musical concepts in ways that are accessible and enjoyable – even if they’ve never had a music lesson in their life! In my book, Music for the Developing Brain: A Simple, At-Home Program, I provide 5-minute, daily activities that you can enjoy with your 0 to 5-year-old child for up to 5 years. These lessons are short, fun, easy to build into your routine, and require minimal investment (you’ll need only a pencil, marker, index cards, internet access to watch my supporting videos, and a small keyboard.) Over the course of the activities you and your child will learn things like rhythm, pitch, tempo, keyboard hand placement, and more. You’ll set them up for success before they ever attend a formal music class. I wrote Music for the Developing Brain to empower parents and caregivers with a framework to teach their children musical concepts that can enhance their brain development and introduce them to the joy of making music – no experience or huge price-tag required! I also offer workshops and speaking engagements for music teachers on several topics: sequencing aural skills in elementary piano music, how to enhance brain development through learning musical concepts, how the human brain is hardwired for music, activities to develop musicality, how to use the book with my website for learning, and similar topics.
