Working in a fast-paced office environment, for a world leading auctioneer of industrial, plant, construction and agricultural equipment, overseeing and taking control of all administration associated with the running of an auction, as well as performing other routine administrative tasks.

Account management for all auctions, including international sites using a bespoke central management system. Providing a high-level of customer service, for both buyers and sellers, throughout the auction process from registration to completion of sale. Going above and beyond ensuring clear communication, for overseas customers particularly, to generate a concise understanding of the nature of an auction.

Completing routine tasks to company deadlines such as, stock input, credit control, contract to auction; being able to monitor/download reports to assist with this completion. Using online systems such as HPI, Cartell, and gov.uk to ensure all relevant items being sold through the auctions are being done so lawfully. Explicit attention to detail is required throughout to ensure compliance.

Working within a team environment, closely with Stock Control to ensure all stock is received. Liaising daily with shipping and haulage agents to coordinate collection and deliveries.

Organising auction facilities, including staff travel arrangements.

Business Development Executive (West & Wales), contributing to the B2B Sales Team target.

Proactively contacting potential business customers as well as taking inbound calls to identify new business opportunities within the healthcare market. Once contact had been established and sales opportunity made, these would be managed through the sales funnel and closed where appropriate. 

Completed 4 week Sales, Product Knowledge and Company Values training. Learnt how to use Salesforce CRM effectively to log client contact. Attended weekly sales and marketing meetings to determine successes/ improvements needed within the team. 

Unfortunately, I had misinterpreted what the role entailed initially and did not expect to be making 40+ cold calls in a call center setting, each day. Although my daily call targets were met/exceeded - this was not the struggle - I found the role repetitive and admittedly did not have the resilience to pursue this as a career. I am someone who likes to build customer relationships and found this to be too impersonal.

It was not a decision made lightly, as the company itself was a delight to work for and its core values are something to certainly live by regardless of not being employed with them - Be Caring. Be Connected. Be Brave. Be Smart.

Business Development Executive

Carlton Towers Estate

Mixture of B2C & B2B sales, highlighting the functionality of Carlton Towers as an events venue. Account management of 80+ booked weddings, along with corporate bookings and parties etc. Planning and hosting Internal Events for the public. Marketing the venue and its events through the company website and by maintaining a constant social media presence to encourage inquiries.

Predominantly reactive selling, with the emphasis following inquiry being to tailor the individual/couples/ groups vision accordingly. Responsible for building rapport and managing client expectations; adhering to the preservation of the building, safety and in line with legal compliance. Event was managed from the clinch of the sale through to completion of the event. Going above and beyond with customer service, "getting stuck in" and helping across departments to guarantee overall satisfaction.

Effective use of Reslynx CMS to log leads, chase inquiries, track conversation and manage the event in a central database accessible to all departments, whilst maintaining effective cross-departmental communications. 

Attending wedding fairs and hosting internal wedding fairs/ business networking events to actively generate revenue. 

Marketing campaign as discussed and agreed with Management:
- Biweekly social media plan (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin); including event plugs and light-hearted personable posts
- Events posted and updated frequently on external websites (i.e. Event Bright, Whats on in York etc.)
- Monthly company newsletters drafted using Mailchimp
- Website updates - self-taught basic Word Press
- Leaflet drops

Internal events were scheduled yearly in advance and involved liaising with new and existing suppliers, negotiating costs to maximise overall profit. Monitoring cashflow on a comprehensive Excel report. Delegation of tasks to colleagues and monitoring the completion in line with event deadlines. Turning a vision into something appealing to the public.

B2B selling of contract manufacturing and packaging solutions within the chemical industry.

I quickly assumed an understanding of an unfamiliar product field and was able to maintain existing client relationships and build new ones through limited cold-calling. Researched target audiences and platforms on which to engage, assuming responsibility as company representative at trade fairs and networking events.

Assisted in the implementation of ACT! CRM for recording sales opportunities; migrating existing contacts and researching reporting capabilities. This was done inline with the new GDPR rules coming into force that year, for which I played a key role in the companies introduction to compliance procedures.

To increase inbound inquiries, I devised and developed on the companies limited marketing strategy - drafting white papers, contributing to the websites blog, setting up a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin, using Hootsuite to manage scheduled posts. Although PR was contracted out, I was responsible for providing content and proof reading articles prior to publishing.

Sales and Marketing Executive

Holding 6+ heavy equipment auctions a year, this was a fast-paced, customer-facing office role for a global company. There was much diversity within the role and my duties included negotiation, credit-control, invoicing (SAGE50 Accounting), data entry, stock control, contract management, problem solving, legal compliance for all machinery (HPI’s & Registration Documents) etc.

Promoted within 3 months from general bar/waiting staff to a supervisory role as a Team Expert. Responsible for setting up the unit and ensuring all food preparation was complete prior to opening to create an efficient working environment during busy breakfast period - could face serving/ preparing food for over 100 people in the space of 1 hour. Customer deadlines had to be met i.e. flight times, requiring a fast and level-headed approach to service whilst remaining professional and courteous throughout.

Cash flow was monitored and add-ons were encouraged to increase sales and meet daily targets. Also included stock takes and ordering. Following company guidelines for food presentation/layout to prevent stock depletion on shift
