I serve as the undergraduate president of the Washington Alpha Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. My main duties include managing and overseeing the chapter operations, managing an executive board staff, running weekly meetings, attending inter-council meetings weekly, maintaining constant communication with alumni and headquarters, and ensuring all necessary and proper paperwork and insurance information is current and up to date.

As head of risk management, I am responsible for overseeing the safety and security of over 100 members of the Washington Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon. This includes ensuring events meet and exceed safety regulations as well as handling member safety issues during events. I also lead and manage a team of additional members to help manage the safety of members.  Leading this team requires planning and running meetings, leading training sessions, and being ready to help aid in situations the members are not comfortable with.

And thats a wrap! The last remaining inventory for God Tier Supplements was wholesaled and a 2+ year project is coming to an end. 

I've learned a ton from this experience and have a whole new level of respect for operators and founders in the supplement and CPG space. Its a hard process, but incredibly rewarding. 

My next entrepreneurial adventures will be back on the Saas/creator side of things vs products, but i can absolutely take these learnings and apply them to all sorts of future projects. 

Biggest lessons were:

Taxes/gov paperwork suck

Chargebacks suck

Finding a good copacker is an art

Meta Ads Manager has the worst UI of al time

Extremely bullish on creators 

People are way more willing to help when you ask than you think

"Whats it like working at a startup?"

This. All the time.

I've had conversations with brands, agencies, experts, and creators about influencer marketing every day for the last 2.5 years. 

More than 1500 conversation with some of the largest and most viral brands and operators who have figured out how to systematically build their businesses with creators and content outside of traditional digital ad spend. 

I get the same 2 questions every single week when I speak with brands who are looking to start scaling with influencer/creator marketing:

1: How do I start? 

2: How do I scale? 

1: Define your goals. Why are you doing this? Is it to increase impressions/brand awareness? Are direct sales more important? Are you using this as a way to test new creative for ads? This will change how you approach this program.

2: Identify what type of person you want to partner with. Sometimes this is a specific persona (women in their 30s who make skincare content). Sometimes is a much more broad category, and sometimes you might not know! That's okay. 

An easy tip is to look at brands you look up who sell a similar/adjacent product that isn't a competitor. Go to their tagged posts. See what sort of creators they're working with. Its an easy way to find creators who are in the right niche and have posted content you like.


3: Set a budget! These programs at scale are great because once you partner with creators, you can have continual sales coming in at a fixed acquisition rate (affiliate) or at a fixed upfront cost (Pay per post, retainer). However there are costs involved with shipping product to creators and for your COGS. It is realistic you'll need to send product out to 50-100 creators before your program really gets traction and legs.  Ensuring you have budget set aside for this will ensure you don't sink time/$$ into a project that never gets off the ground. 

Scaling is a lot like scaling any other part of your business. Put $ and resources into whats working, cut whats not. 

For creators, this will mean focusing/doubling down on winning creative styles, winning channels, and your top creators. Ask your top performers if they have any friends/know any other creators who would want to try your products. You'd be shocked at how often your top creators will recruit your next best creator just from asking. 

Automate AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. The administrative side of these programs can become a lot. Onboarding, gifting, tracking, payouts, taxes, etc. quickly becomes a full time and mind numbing role. This is where tools like Social Snowball become extremely valuable and allow you to offload these tasks and focus on the creative side of these programs. 

You don't need to have everything in place to start. Identify your goals, understand who you want to partner with, set a budget, and start automating what you can! 

This channel will only continue to grow. We're at the tip of the iceberg of the hottest acquisition channel for the foreseeable future.
