Sh*t has changed, big time. 

Last week I started sharing tools that we’re using at Toto to absolutely dominate this year— particularly, with a lean & mean team. 

I want us to win this year, and I want to help my community win too.

Years ago when I was starting Madeby (aka Toto 1.0), countless advisors and fellow ecomm killers told me I had to get in with “affiliates”. 

What they meant then: blogs, media buyers, review sites, publishers- etc.

To be totally honest- I thought I could do this completely manually and manage it on my own. That failed.

Here's the thing. Your Klaviyo bill has already been skyrocketing.

Meta ads are becoming increasingly expensive. With a few exceptions, the majority of brands i've worked with over the last 6 months (and especially since 2024) have seen a sharp uptick in CPAs for Facebook ads. 

Is facebook broken? Maybe.

Are consumers spending less? Definitely. 

Do marketers need to change their creative and keep testing? Absolutely. 

But what else can brands do? You can only throw so much money at Meta without a return before you need to make a serious pivot. The solution I'm most familiar with has been the pivot to influencer and what I call "weaponized word of mouth" marketing. 

Establishing commission rates for influencers, and flat fixed incentives for customers to drive sales creates a very predictable acquisition cost. 

If you're offering your customers $10 for every referral they bring in, your CAC is $10. Doesn't matter if Facebook is performing well or not, it doesn't matter if politicians are messing with ad spend by pumping millions into ads, your CAC is $10. 

If you're giving an influencer or micro influencer 20-30%, you know your costs are 20-30% of gross sales. No fluctuation. If they sell more, they earn more. If they don't sell, you don't owe more. There's no negative/cost (outside of product seeding, if applicable) to have these creators promote your products to their audiences. 

Can influencers/customers entirely replace Meta? No. But for a lot of brands, this can be a channel where underperforming ad spend can be reallocated  to turn profitable growth with very minimal downside and a whole lot of upside. 

There are a few voices on LinkedIn who've done a great job highlighting how you can do this. Tomer Hen and Jean Dees are two of the best IMO.
