Most people don't intentionally pursue sales as a career. I am most people. After 10 years in sales, at small, medium, and large companies...I think it's growing on me. Prior to graduating from Arizona State University in 2014, I attended many career fairs and submitted many more applications. I had a tone of student debt to pay and took the position that paid me the most. Sales promised fortune, fame, and yearly trips to exotic destinations. I'm still waiting on the fortune and fame, but along the way I found some things that I think are more important.... I've learned how to operate as an individual contributor and as a team member. I've learned about roles and responsibilities outside of Sales like Customer Success, Marketing, Operations, Finance, HR, and Engineering and how to work cross-functionally with all. I've learned how to expertly drive top of funnel, stuff a pipeline, and increase sales conversion rates by aligning the services I sell with what's most important to the buyer. Sales can be like solving a puzzle and I enjoy attempting to put the pieces of the puzzle together and enjoy it even more when I'm doing it with a team.
