Activision Blizzard

Guided a Data Security Engineering team on implementing Hashicorp Enterprise Vault for BYOK, Transform, Transit, Masking, and Tokenization. This was used to protect their customer data in their different cloud environments. This was a short term contract to simply implement Vault, but the contract was cut shorter due to Activision Blizzard being acquired by Microsoft; all contracts were suspended and 1900 employees were laid off including the director of teams and the architect.

GCP for primary infrastructure.  Hashicorp Terraform via Google Cloud provider to implement Infrastructure-as-Code.  Kubernetes was leveraged for container orchestration utilizing GCP GKE. 
 Managed via Hasicorp Terraform via Kubernetes provider.  Helm was used to install Hashicorp Vault Enterprise.  Hashicorp Terraform was used to configure Vault with the Vault provider.

Data Privacy Engineer

Served as a cloud engineer, squad leader, and interim director for the cloud engineering team which was responsible for managing the infrastructure for the Machine Learning and AI used in Lirio's core solutions.  Managed Confluent Kafka with Terraform and Launch Configuration in EC2.  It was our message store from our services in the EKS.  Managed OpenVPN using Ansible and Terraform for access to our services.  Provided reviews of pull requests of all our infrastructure which was either Ansible, Terraform, and Helm commits for our infrastructure in Azure DevOps repositories.  Ansible was leveraged for older EC2 derived infrastructure.  Provided project management for team in Azure DevOps boards and met with leadership to discuss capactiy planning which was constantly competing for support requests from developers.  All documentation was primarily in Confluence with smaller solution docs being in Markdown with our repository.

Contributed large efforts in ensuring our infrastructure was HITRUST and SoC2 compliant and provided evidence for these efforts.

Utilized Python to replicate our repositories in Azure DevOps repositorries using the Azure Devops Python API and AWS Boto to Amazon CodeCommit.

Worked with team members to ensure goals were being met and to liaison business requests.

Short term contract to update the customer's client operating system builds in Ansible for Ubuntu to a newer release.  Provided training.

Responsible for troubleshooting Linux infrastructure for Unitas clients in a managed service provider support role.  Created CentOS Kickstart and Ubuntu Preseed deployments using PXE and DHCPd using Ansible.  Out-of-band management used to perform firmware updates and system management.  Modified client cloud infrastructure utilizing CloudFormation in AWS to manage VPC configuration for VPN connectivity.  Trained junior resources on issues attempting to grow skillset in other resources.  Supported client OpenStack infrastructure.  All documentation captured in Sharepoint.

Supported company's process for egress of digital assets to streaming services in the Media Asset Management team.  Managed file asset management team in building system images and configuration utilizing vSphere and Apache configuration leveraging RegEx rules for site redirection.  Added supporting configuration for JBoss, Tomcat, or Spring builds leveraging Jenkins for integration and deployment.  Contributed in Python Boto code for supporting stack builds.  Utilized CloudFormation templates and AWS CLI scripts for building PostgreSQL RDS instances.  All documentation captured in Confluence and Jira.

Scripps Networks Interactive

This was a converged infrastructure engineering role to attempt to refine the IT Operations infrastructure both on-premise and in the cloud.  On premise, vSphere infrastructure was refined and improved to leverage Cisco UCS with EMC VNX Storage while exploring OpenStack backed by Ceph storage on commodity hardware Silicon Mechanics for Swift and Cinder.  Refined Oracle database hardware tuning procedures and leveraged Chef for infrastructure as code as well as VMWare VcAC.  Created recomendations paper for helping the Converged Infrastructure team for selecting the above tools.  Assisted integration of EMC Isilon for NFS tuning parameters for consumption by clients.  Utilized PowerShell to build LUN selections in EMC VNX storage arrays for use with UCS and vSphere.  Performed proof of concept investigations of VMWare VIO (OpenStack) and VMWare Big Data Extensions on EMC Isilion (Hadoop).  All documentation provided in Confluence and Jira.

Accepted a role to serve as the technology lead over Scripps Networks Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) applications and services.  Utilizing my previous Google DART knowledge, I refined the automation of log delivery from Log Processors to Yieldex for advertising analysis and trending.  This involved managing all the DART components and Appache HTTPD for Ad Clients.  Additionally, all security tooling including CA Control Minder was managed to ensure SOX confinement was maintained.  Additionally, this involved some custom queries to Oracle and some scripting in Bash via cron to keep a schedule.  Additionally, there were some Informatica hosts that were managed in an advisory role.  The above solutions were managed on RHEL and Solaris.

Additionally, there were Windows solutions that were deployed.  I assisted in managing a Sharepoint farm for the company's portal which also utilized SQL Server.  We managed deployments of SAP Business Objects hosts for the business intelligence group, along with Tableau server.  I managed the Stopware PassagePoint hosts which were used for on premise access for background checks.  Finally, I assisted with our Microsoft Lync infrastructure.  All documentation updated in Confluence.

U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Scientific and Technical Information

Contract position to evaluate Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) solution to reduce the Solaris foot print.  I saved OSTI $40K by utilizing Hyper-V instead and running Linux instances on their existing Hyper-V infrastructure.  Additionally, I modified golden images and Red Hat Satellite to assist in making RHEL hosts National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) compliant.  I modified software and configuration channels to ensure Center of Internet Security (CIS)-CAT checks passed in reporting.  All documentation was provided in Confluence.

Cray Inc.

File system administrator for the "Spider" file system for providing support to the Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL).  Provided Lustre file system support on this and other file systems attached to these hosts.  I assisted in configuration enforcement of the OSS nodes on DDN SFA 9000/10000 controllers as well as other storage nodes for lower environment storage.  Used Cfengine/Bcfg2 and Gedi to configure live diskless hosts depending on client environment.  Created Nagios plugin module for monitoring Adaptec 5805 storage controllers.  Created internal reports for Cray to better improve relations and meet customer goals.  Managed nodes through IPMI and out-of-band.  Documentation captured in Cray internal documentation and DokuWiki for ORNL.  Used OFED to manage Infiniband connectivity through nodes.

System Administrator

Continued supporting infrastructure from the E.W. Scripps split.  Provided senior guidance on Sun M-Class servers with domains, Vertias Storage Cluster.  I solely deployed Red Hat Satellite to be used in the environment and BMC Bladelogic for our Solaris environments saving the company $60K in consulting costs.  Provided top tier support on Solaris ZFS and Solaris Zones.  Integrated Solaris and Linux with various storage arrays using Linux and EMC tooling.

The E.W. Scripps Company

Managed all Solaris infrastructure on both SPARC and x86_64.  This involved support Solaris 8-10 and RHEL 4-5.  Replaced FRU and CRU parts on hosts and provided after hours support for these hosts.  Hosts were primarily small to midframe hosts (E250-E450, T2k, V440-V890, V20Z, X2100, X4100).  Ensured connectivity to various networks including data and storage networks to L700 and SL500 tape libraries.

Services included Vignette (for content management), Verity (for online search), Google DART(ad delivery) all of which used Sun Application Server or Apache Httpd.  Configured connectivity to Hitachi 9900 array with device multi-pathing or Emulex solutions/SAN foundations for Solaris.  Managed storage volume management either with mdadm/LVM for Linux and Storage Volume Management on Solaris.  Ensured Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance on hosts by configuring CA's E-trust Access Control.  Used Bash scripts to automate log management connected to income in DART environments.  Utilized SQL to Oracle Databases to get data results from hosts.  Customized SSH, Pam, and Sudo to configure access and permissions on hosts for shell access.  Documentation captured in mediaWiki.

State of Tennessee

This was a System Administration position with the Department of Finance and Administration supporting other departments.  My responsibilities varied on the other state departments I supported:

My support of the Department of Children's Services involved supporting a SunFire 15K connected to a StorageTek L180 with LTO2 tape drives connected with Brocade Silkworm fiber switches as a media server for backups while supporting domains running different Oracle Databases.

My support of the Department of Education involved supporting older E450s for the EIS system storing student and school data connected to older direct attached tape libraries.  These were primarily used for Oracle databases.

Supported Department of Revenue by managing a Sunfire V280 running Tomcat with Jacada with existing 3270 programs with FileNet access.

Supported Department of Human Services by supporting a Sunfire V880 connected to direct attached storage system as a magnetic media replacement from an optical jukebox for Filenet which stores all vital documents for the state (birth certificates, etc).

Performed Disaster Recovery testing in IBM data centers in Colorado and Maryland to test recovery and online service restoration.

Performed integration of services into Tennessee's initial deployments of Linux in data centers and served as subject matter expert of Linux on vSphere.

Created custom SSH package for Solaris to be deployed to give better feature support.  Most automation achieved in Bash scripts.

System Administrator Level 4

Continuing my previous work for the Department of Education, I supported the Education Information System (EIS) by creating reports in Crystal Reports and Oracle reports by leveraging stored procedures and building queries for reports.  I maintained ASP pages for EIS and additionally created a teacher employment site for the State of TN, "Teach in TN" connected to an Oracle 9i database utilizing stored procedure packages.  Utilized Toad and Oracle Discoverer to discover and build data views.

Distributed Programmer/Analyst Level 3

Directly worked for Department of Education by supporting the scoring/reporting solution which was responsible for scoring the TCAP tests for students in all county school districts.  This was co-worked in Visual Basic.  Additionally, I authored a FileMonitor tool which gathered uploads from school systems and collected data from the file names and make choices based on those values on how these would be transferred.  Additionally, I configured an IBM AIX RS/6000 to serve as a gateway for giving access to test scanners by repairing its routing tables and their collected results from the student tests and allowed for submission of this data to the scoring system.  I also a DLL in C++ to perform the index counting for each test to be printed by the scanner.
