As Sr. Director of Digital Communications, I oversaw the digital and technical operations for marketing  communications and advancement services. I provided strategic vision/consulting on capital projects, and support to external business relationships or partnerships for the office of University Relations & Advancement; Reporting to the AVP University Relations/Chief Communications Officer, I also facilitated the creative and editorial aspects to a nation-wide integrated marketing communications strategy designated to advance Salve Regina’s image and collegiate reputation. Seated member of the IT Council, Committee for Academic Technology, Committee for Usability Services, and was the acting director to the Arboretum at Salve Regina. 

An employee to Salve Regina since 2000, I retained extensive information technology (9 years) and public communications (9-10 years) experience in roles combining technical expertise with journalistic communications in tune with my educational background. I resigned this position to relocate from Rhode Island to Vermont in November 2019, after 19 years of employment to both the office of Information Technology (2000-09) and the office of University Relations and Advancement (2009-19).

Sr. Director, Digital Communications

The position's prime responsibility was for the coverage, planning, and implementation of information and data systems at the university both client-based and web-based, along with the supervision of divisional staff and the management of key strategic partners.  

During this period, I oversaw and worked hands-on with a number of enterprise administrative systems from areas such as space management, incident response, academic data records, document management, asset management, digital storage and streaming, Internet infrastructure and website server products. I met frequently with key institutional technology constituents performing ongoing audits and assessments of tools, techniques and resources to make recommendation to the CIO. I continued to collaborate extensively with the Web and marketing communications staff and leadership to provide guidance and development support to their projects and daily operations supporting the main campus website. 

In collaborating with other institutional administrative staff, I contributing to writing and procurement of financial grants for academic projects with "web" components, and supporting an academically-driven project to introduce e-Portfolios to undergraduate students; This project connected me with notable technology and pedagogy experts as we forge a collaborative network that resulted in the release of a platform that combined web-publishing techniques with data-driven outcomes assessment.  From this e-Portfolio project, I presented numerous times for MacroMedia/Adobe and at several Educause events held regionally and nationally.  In all, 1500 students produced Salve Regina e-Portfolios during the run of the non-required, but encouraged program.

Participated and contributed to the ERP selection and implementation team of Datatel Colleague (now Ellucian Colleague) from 2007-09.

Director of Information Systems

Promoted to Director of Web Services & Integration in 2003; This position elevated the previous years work in administrative systems operations to a strategic role focusing on the planning, development, and deployment of web-based applications and systems for the university.  

During this work period, I oversaw the introduction of new web-based applications including those that enabled online course registration, payment procedures, and numerous online form-based applications designed following the period's noted usability techniques.

In collaboration with the university webmaster, I programmed and published numerous data-driven applications for use on the main campus website utilizing the Cold Fusion programming framework. Through integration, curated a grown collection of web-based software applications into a single homegrown web portal utilizing authentication and authorization techniques guaranteeing user security. MySALVE was a web-portal combining functional web applications and aggregated content pulled from external university websites.  

Worked with and advised fellow administrative systems team members on application design projects ensuring a seamless transition and integration into desktop and web-based interfaces. Sat as a member of website advisory teams, academic technology committees and project teams, and as a senior member of information technology office leadership.

Director of Web Services & Integration

Hired in fall of 2000, this professional position for the information technology office was introduced to complement the external web publishing efforts for the main campus website, with specialized web-based application development.  During this period, I programmed, designed, and documented, and delivered customized web applications for administrative offices.  Some applications included an employee hiring and notification application for human resources, an incident reporting and tracking application for safety and security, a space management application for conferences and events, and numerous web-based inquiry and request forms utilizing logic and queried data when needed.

Oversaw a public-facing website, Inside.Salve, that served as a gateway to key web applications including the ones noted above and many others designed for access by an internal audience. 

Configured, administered, and advised on Web infrastructure procured to support all website and applications.

Intranet Manager & Developer

Roger Williams University

Professional position within the information technology office overseeing the design, development, and content management of multiple university websites including the main campus, school of law, and school of professional development.  In addition, selected, configured, and administered the on-site Internet infrastructure supporting each website.  

For the constituent community, I established decentralized publishing procedures and methods providing individual students and faculty the tools to produce his or her own websites. In support of these work, I also provided tailored documentation and facilitated training workshops. 

Advised on web-based technology projects including self-service applications, both custom and vendor-driven, and served on advisory groups for online education tools and methodologies.
