Oracle is one of the largest computer technology companies in the world offering solutions for enterprise customers. The Asia Pacific role of Instantis Specialist Sales is focused on managing regional customers and developing new business in APAC.

Instantis is a company that Oracle acquired as part of its cloud strategy. When I learned that Oracle was buying this leading PPM cloud company, I wanted to be one of the global leaders to help bring Instantis on board and drive new sales. Every day was filled with variety, helping to enable new partners, finding new clients in new uncharted markets, speaking at events all across Asia Pacific and developing strategies that would work for Oracle in the region.

In the year I doubled the number of customers in the APAC, grew our alliances and partners so we could reach new customers, trained all internal sales teams and created new presentation materials for the global team. I used LinkedIn to encourage customers to join webinars I was hosting, I discovered and implemented new ways to develop relationships with customers in new markets using social media and I developed customised marketing campaigns for each country in APAC. 

Speaking to large sponsored events in India, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and Australia I was able to grow the Instantis pipeline and deliver the value of Instantis as a cloud PPM solution.

Instantis Specialist Sales - Asia Pacific

Oracle is one of the largest computer technology companies in the world offering solutions for enterprise customers. I worked in the Primavera Global Business Unit as an Account Director responsible for developing new business and managing existing enterprise accounts. 

Primavera was a company that Oracle acquired in 2009, and what was special about Primavera is that it became a Global Business Unit (GBU). The excitement of being part of a newly acquired company and the creation of a largely autonomous entity in Oracle really drew me to the role. I learned a lot about Project and Portfolio Management in this time and ended shaping and understanding business in Australia in new markets (such as financial services). 

I was responsible for prospective clients (which I chose with my manager) as part of largely uncharted territory. Primavera was traditionally successful and well known in capital intensive industries, but not well known in Financial Services, Telecommunications and Government. This became my focus. In this role, I helped some of the existing customers to transition to the new Oracle platform, and discovered the opportunities in these new industries. I worked extensively with our partner network to help them to be successful and found new business in these other industries.

I joined the fast-paced business intelligence team at Oracle. It allowed me to call on my financial and accounting background to help address the growing needs of companies to be able to harness the growing volumes of data from various departments to build real value.

I decided to take an open-ended amount of time off to travel and what started as a plan to travel parts of South America, ended up being one that took me around South America, the Middle East and South East Asia. This was an interesting hybrid role that meant I was involved with the end-to-end marketing and sales of our newly acquired ABM Solution. New partner relationships were forged, new messaging for the market and I was intimately involved with the pre-sales process and post-customer care. The business grew significantly as a result and our reputation in the government and financial services took hold. 

I managed complex deals, marketing strategy, pre-sales activity and partner relationships in this product geared for the office of the CFO.

This was my foray into operating as an independent consultant. It was challenging to keep new business in the pipeline although I also had great opportunities with companies in Australia and South Korea. I provided business transformation services to a newly formed government entity allowing accurate pricing and development of service level agreement and helped to re-engineer reporting structure for a Korean bank allowing multi-dimensional views across the different divisions and branches to name a few of the valuable projects that I played a role in. 

It was great to use my previous experiences to help these successful companies.
