Six Degrees

Six degrees is an environmental think-tank, delivering independent research and consulting services on some of the most challenging problems facing society today.

As Co-founder and President, I have been responsible for driving the strategy of the think tank over the past 2 years. In this time, I have led corporate engagements and negotiated partnerships on behalf of the national branches, leading to us now having a corporate sponsorship and funding. In seeking to further improve the student experience, I have also developed a 'Professionals Network' in which students and projects now have mentoring from senior consultants across industries. At present, we have 15 industry experts supporting Six Degrees.

I have also been leading the wider recruitment strategy across Durham University, resulting in Six Degrees now having the second largest footprint of any consulting group on campus within 2 years of establishing.

I have personally really enjoyed working in a team environment and engaging with clients over the past couple of years. Consequently, after returning from my year in industry I am looking forward to further growing Six Degrees' presence at Durham through expanding partnerships across a large number of leading student bodies.

For my year in industry, I working with some of PA's largest clients within the consumer and manufacturing industry. In wanting to explore my areas of interest, I spent a large portion of this time working in sustainability, with a particular focus on helping clients achieve increasingly circular business models. I also built out one of PA's social value initiatives, leading engagements with student groups and universities whilst also aiming to strengthening PA's external brand.

I led the development of numerous sales proposals, and frequently had the opportunity to present to clients, something I really enjoyed doing. I also developed strong skills and confidence in market research, regulatory reviews and industry analysis (to name a few) and undertook a number of internal training courses in client engagement, excel and team building.

180 Degrees is the largest worldwide student-led consulting society. It provides pro-bono consulting services to organisations across the planet. 

- researched and designed a volunteer outreach strategy for a charity, using industry data to target specific demographics of Lincolnshire county.
- worked as a team to develop an educational strategy plan to assist a charity in the transition from foundation to CIO association model.
- Led a team of 5 consultants to develop a strategic analysis of a proposed business expansion in which we were able to present our findings to the board of directors.

- Attended the Human Rights Council's 38th general assembly, relating to the Agenda 2030 sustainability goals and developments, further participating in round table discussions with themes focusing on gender equality and advancing economic rights of women globally.
- Presented a speech on Economic Gender inequality in relation to the 2030 sustainability goals.

Youth Representative

A highly motivated undergraduate studying Economics and Management at Durham University. Having been a consulting team leader at 180 Degrees Consulting, I have now established Six Degrees Consulting at Durham University. 

Currently, I am on a placement year, working as a Sourcing, Strategy & Corporate services consultant at PA Consulting. I specialise in consumer goods and manufacturing, and will be looking to develop my skillset within this go-to-market. PA is an innovation and transformation consultancy. It is underpinned by a belief in the power of ingenuity to build a positive human future in a technology-driven world.
