Here’s what the IRS says 👇


✅ You must use a specific part of your home regularly for business.
✅ That space must be used exclusively for work.
✅ If you qualify, you may deduct part of your:

– Rent or mortgage interest
– Utilities
– Insurance
– Repairs and maintenance
– Depreciation


But the catch is:


❌ Employees working remotely can’t claim this.
✔️ Only self-employed individuals (freelancers, business owners, contractors) can.


It doesn’t have to be a whole room. Even a small, clearly defined area can count, as long as it meets the rules.

The hidden tax that sneaks up on nearly every owner

Every fall, there’s one date circled on my calendar: October 15th.

For some clients, it’s the finish line.


They’ve carried the weight of last year’s tax return all the way here… stressed, waiting, hoping to finally let it go.


For others, it’s just another checkpoint.


By October, they’re already planning for next year, reviewing Q3, making adjustments, and setting themselves up for stronger decisions.


Same season.
Two very different mindsets.


And every year, it reminds me: waiting until October means opportunities lost. 


By the time the deadline hits, many choices are already off the table.


That’s why, for me, October 15 isn’t just about closing the books.


It’s the reset button,  a chance to reflect on the clients I’ve worked with, the relationships I want to continue, and the space I need to make for the year ahead.


Because just like my clients, I don’t want to carry baggage forward either.
