Business Development isn’t easy! Because there are no hidden tricks, no rabbits out of hats and certainly no unicorns. It's not the same as selling, it's all the hard work that comes way before you actually sell something. Business development can be summarized as the ideas, initiatives and activities aimed towards making a business better.

As Commercial and Operational Director, my initial mission was to steer the Brussels-Wallonia region back on track. Over a period of 6 months, we progressed from a loss, to break-even, to pofit. I certainly did not achieve this alone, as I had the privilege of leading, training, and coaching an incredible team of motivated individuals (20+ professionals).
In this role, I held responsibility for all commercial and financial outcomes and had full P&L responsibility for 6 different offices.

In a subsequent phase, I also took on the responsibility of leading the key & national accounts team. Additionally, I supervised the core team tasked with further digitizing and optimizing all processes.

During the final months of my assignment, I dedicated my efforts to:
- Shaping the new structure of the organization.
- Formulating budgets for 2024.
- Drafting a strategic Business Development plan for all QJobs offices and other companies within the group.

Throughout my various roles and responsibilities, I was part of both the management team and the executive committee.

If there was any time left, I also provided internal training on sales and/or LinkedIn.

When I took over the "Young Professionals" division, founded in 2018, they had a huge “bench" problem due to a lack of proper focus and not setting the right priorities. With 20 people (out of 25) on the bench, my challenge consisted of 3 parts:
1. keep & motivate the good consultants and let the other ones go
2. reduce bench to less then 5%
3. find new revenue streams within the concept of project sourcing
Within 3 months I reduced the bench to less than 5%, the overhead cost dropped 65% and 13 consultants got a new project. 
In September 2019 we successfully launched the first Payroll Academy with SD Worx and hired 25 new consultants.
At the end of my assignment, the business was no longer loss-making. We ended 2019 break-even.
