I am currently a senior attending Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My studies at the university began in the spring of 2022. At the moment, I am in the process of earning a bachelor's degree in communication studies. Before attending Temple, I attended Bucks County Community College for two years. In my time at Bucks, I majored in journalism. Through my studies, I am working towards a career relating to social media management and digital marketing. Although this was not originally a career choice, it is an area I have become greatly passionate and motivated about in recent years. Within my studies, I have taken courses to help me work towards these career aspirations. Among these courses, there were communication classes, in which I unearthed the many avenues of communication, the emerging world of social media, and how we as people interact in these varying spaces. Another I have taken is public speaking. Like many, public speaking is something I have long struggled with. While I am still working to improve myself in this area, this class had a lasting influence; I was able to greatly improve my skills and learn strategies to best connect with audiences. As my career goals became clearer, I added a minor in content creation to my studies. In these courses, I have been able to skills such as core concepts of copywriting, visual modes of communication, and varying forms of digital technologies. Outside of my education, I have worked several jobs. One of these places of employment was a warehouse job I worked in the summer of 2021. The other was serving as a student journalist in my time at Bucks. While these jobs directly relate to my career aspirations, I did develop pivotal skills such as working in a team environment, becoming a better communicator, and learning the importance of organization. While my work experience is scarce, it is something I wish could have carved out more time for in the past. Before entering the workforce and finishing my studies, I aim to get valuable experience in my desired occupation through an internship or other relevant opportunities. At the moment, I continue to enroll in courses that can best equip me with the knowledge and skills for this career. Following my graduation, I intend to seek employment in Philadelphia or the greater Philadelphia area.
