Western Region Manager, Taxation

•	Regulate liquor and cannabis production licenses through the cycle of opening, renewal and closure
•	Interview licensee and build rapport to transparently learn about their business plan in order to best investigate their production sites
•	Investigate each production site of licensee to verify details for their license application, which includes requirements on inventory, equipment configuration, production yield and quality control
•	Collaborate with RCMP and CBSA to resolve incompliant operations and terminate productions
•	Identify risk of falsified filings by auditing for discrepancies in monthly returns
•	Educate licensee on the importance of accurately submitting the security of excise duty payments, fees and assessments, and the calculation of surety bond
•	Supervise and train 5 junior-level Excise Duty Officers by reviewing their license application details before the application is submitted to Team Leader
•	Liaise as CRA representative with Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Brewing and Brewery Operations faculty to align curriculum to current regulations

•	Managed corporate tax audits for organizations generating under $1M in reported annual revenue
•	Investigated in corporate tax audits through examining taxpayers’ returns, books, records, taxpayer requests, and supporting documents
