I am a problem-solver, driven by two overarching themes --- life-long learning and lifting all boats with a rising tide. I have two career passions - anything in the software development / tech / IT space and helping people. I am an advocate for veterans, military and their spouses and families. I love using tech for maximum impact. I've been in my current role for close to 18 months, as Java Developer with Groundswell. In that time, I've worked as part of a team on the HCLI2.0 calculation engine build and integration, a USAC project. This application has a Java backend (w /Spring framework), PostgreSQL db, and an Appian front-end with a JIRA / Stash workflow management setup. Prior to that, I worked as a Software Development Engineer with Amazon for about 16 months. In that time, I worked in a wide array of programming languages, frameworks, and technologies -- Kotlin, Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS, Git, AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Lambda, etc... Previously, I served as an entrusted senior program manager & advisor. Combined w/ leadership skills honed through adversity & cultivated by diversity during a lengthy career in the U.S. Navy, I utilized these skills to provide guidance & direction to the Army Transition Assistance Program at Fort Stewart & Hunter Army Air Field in coastal Georgia. I have been passionate about tech (as well as math & science) since my youth. As a lifelong user of Windows (from 3.1x forward), OS X & Linux operating systems, I have built & maintained systems & networks for various reasons (work, hobby, volunteer & personal use) for the last 20+ years. I hold a MS in Information Technology, w/ specialization in IT Mgmt and a BA in Organizational Mgmt (summa cum laude). Beyond what's listed above, I have experience with: - Node.js - MongoDB - Postman - Django - Flask Personally, I have circumnavigated the globe by sea, air & land, touched all but one continent, and sailed upon the 10 largest bodies of water on the planet. I’ve visited 47 different countries, traveled to 47 different states & met some of the most amazing people this beautiful marble has to offer. Having faced adversity early in my own life, I learned the value of a strong work ethic, how to maintain stability during chaos & the impact of a positive attitude. Additionally, I am certified in ITILv4 Foundations & am a Certified Associate in Scrum Fundamentals.
