Consulting / Advisory: Providing Go-To-Market and Operations consulting services as well as providing advice and support to some really exciting and diverse startups. 

Investment: Managing LP, angel, and real estate investments.

The founding team and I remained on after our acquisition by a strategic in March 2022 to continue to drive our belief with our awesome RP teams that People. Power. Business.

RocketPower provides talent solutions to rapidly scaling technology companies, particularly startups - backed by a who’s who of Silicon Valley VCs - that are disrupting industries and literally changing the world. Clients included Slack, Uber, Instacart, Andreesen Horowitz, Robinhood, Gitlab, Ro, Aurora, United Masters, Anyscale, Grammarly, Opendoor, and too many more to mention.

This was an incredible experience where I oversaw: all operations across biz ops, talent ops, and revenue ops; brand development / marketing; general and product management of our outsourcing business; and the finance and accounting organization. I also had the privilege of architecting and launching our first dedicated Customer Success effort, which drove NPS that was off the charts for our peer group and industry.

One of the real differentiators for us was developing, through our in-house engineering team, a platform running on AWS that allowed us to infuse data and process across our lines of service and deliver unmatchable insights to our clients as we consulted with them to drive results for their critical hiring needs. 

Going with the other founders from hypergrowth, to fighting our way through a pandemic that tried to kill RP, to successfully returning to hypergrowth mode globally, then to a hugely successful exit and follow-up integration with a Fortune 500 acquirer was the ride of a lifetime.

CloudPassage

Founded in 2010, CloudPassage was backed by leading Silicon Valley investors and acquired by Fidelis. Our SaaS cybersecurity platform pioneered cloud security and is deployed by customers worldwide – from innovative startups to the Fortune 500. 

I originally joined CloudPassage as Head of Sales Operations…

○ Typical breadth of Sales Ops responsibilities in a lean startup environment: Go-to-market strategy & targeting; forecasting, planning, and performance analytics; sales enablement; incentive compensation management; Salesforce.com and other tools management. Not so typical responsibilities given my background include oversight of the Sales Development Rep (SDR) team, Inside Account Management, as well as Marketing Ops. 

I was then asked to take on the Head of Growth role, reporting to the CEO, in addition to the above Sales Ops responsibilities, I had responsibility for…

Marketing - 
○ Dual focus on targeted Account Based Marketing covering Enterprise and Midmarket segments as well as overall market coverage through typical broad demand generation channels. Oversee the team members, contractors, and agencies responsible for Brand, Marketing Communications, Demand Generation, and Field/Event Marketing. 

Inside Sales - 
○ Account Executive midmarket closers split between target account hunting and follow up on Marketing-driven SaaS trials. 

It was a challenging, humbling, and rewarding role spanning Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Strategy, where I was able to leverage my diverse experience and lead fantastic people to drive the business by setting our targets, telling our story, carrying a number, and continually analyzing our results. I was happy as Head of Growth to see CloudPassage through a tumultuous period as the entire executive team turned over and we stabilized the "new" company. I then moved on to RocketPower.

Head of Growth (Acquired by Fidelis)

Digital Realty

Digital Realty is the largest provider of data centers in the world. I was in a fantastic org where we operated with startup speed and agility within a NYSE-listed company. 

○ I originally joined as VP of Market Development to reshape Digital's go-to-market approach, as well as to start Digital's first ever inside sales organization.  

○ Taking over next as as Vice President of Global Marketing, I oversaw all marketing strategy, execution, agency oversight, and leadership and staff for Digital Realty Marketing worldwide. This encompassed, Public Relations, Content Strategy, Product and Brand Marketing, Integrated and Digital Marketing Channels, Events, Creative Services, as well as the Direct Demand Generation organization including Inside Sales, Sales Development, and Partner Marketing. 

It was an incredible ride where we stood up an entirely new sales and marketing structure and discipline, oversaw a $2 Billion acquisition, subsequent re-brand, and saw the doubling of our stock price and entry in to the S&P 500. 

Most of all, I had the distinct privilege of leading some of the most amazing marketing leaders and IC's I've ever known across the US, EMEA, and APAC.

Early investor and advisor for CheckAction...a "Smarter Way To Work IT Projects." The vision for CheckAction is to empower I.T. teams with an intuitive and powerful web application which boosts productivity, promotes synergy, and simplifies work.

Impermium (Acquired by Google)

It was a thrill to be an early investor and advisor and to see Impermium grow to the point of a successful exit and acquisition by Google, which uses Impermium's technology to protect companies across the Internet from social spam, fraud, and abuse. I had a blast working with an amazing executive team on a truly needed service funded by some of the most experienced and influential investors in the Valley, including Accel Partners, Greylock, and Highland Capital.

I founded Tricendent in 2010 to provide solutions for key challenges of sales and marketing organizations around enabling their people and processes. Tricendent started as a boutique sales enablement agency, focused on working with a broad array of sales and marketing organizations with a significant focus on executive search for critical go-to-market roles. Tricendent was a full-time entrepreneurial endeavor from 2010-2013, and I have kept the business active as it has transformed to provide a multifaceted array of services since those early days.

MarketStar (Omnicom Group)

Reported to CEO as member of senior executive staff for subsidiary of agency giant Omnicom. Joined during massive growth mode to lead Marketing and create a unique Corporate Development role on focused on culture, communications, and people development as MarketStar grew to 2500+ employees globally across service lines including B2B direct, B2B channels, and B2C.  

Marketing:
○ Responsible for MarketStar marketing team & functions including brand & product management, channel marketing, events, marcomm, PR, & social media. Oversaw transformation of branding and messaging to guide aforementioned growth period, including complete re-brand and re-launch of MarketStar subsidiary agency Create.  

Corporate Development:
○ Led efforts to unify multiple functional and support units via unified corporate strategy, innovation and knowledge management, corporate communications, and leadership development. Implemented “The MarketStar Way” to unify corporate culture as agency moved from a North American focus to a global provider across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. 

General Management / B2B Direct Inside Sales Business Unit:
○ Shortly after joining, was asked to take responsibility for MarketStar’s largest client relationship with Cisco Systems. Grew original US-focused Inside Sales organization in two years into high-performing multinational business unit covering 14 countries across NA, LatAm and APAC. Owned the $48M annual P&L for the client engagement and led organization of 300+ salespeople as well as supporting finance, ops, and HR staff.  Established MarketStar as the leading outsourced vendor across regions for Cisco for innovation and thought leadership while carrying a $750M global quota across direct and channel sales efforts in commercial, enterprise and public sector spaces.

I left MarketStar in 2010 to found Tricendent, but remain humbled and in awe of the what my team accomplished...and the roles many of them have moved on to in their careers.

Executive Vice President, Marketing & Corporate Development

As an executive within the CRM Global Service Line, I consulted on key initiatives with a particular focus on Inside Sales w/senior executives at multiple Global 500 clients while leading various multidisciplinary consulting and execution teams across North America and Asia.

○ Founding member of the SMB Routes to Market practice, strategic initiative launched in 2004 to assist technology and telecommunication enterprises penetrate the Small and Medium business space through a cohesive framework of end-to-end consultative and delivery solutions. 
○ Regular interface with divisional and corporate leadership to assess investment case and logistical budgeting needs for the practice, as well as supplier and partner resource identification, recruitment, and alignment.
○ Lead architect of the firm’s proprietary Inside Sales Capability Roadmap / Diagnostic Tool, which brings together qualitative and quantitative benchmarks, industry best practices, and firm experience and PoV into a guiding framework to build or improve Inside Sales organizations at major corporations.
○ Responsible for delivery of high-value consulting services to key technology and telecommunications clients; including procurement and management consulting, strategy creation, solution architectures, and project management.
○ Led and project managed Cisco Systems’ revamp of WW Inside Sales strategy from supplier RFP evaluation through procurement process through global ramp-up execution of WW Inside Sales team.

Having exited RocketPower after almost a year of integration with the acquirer, I am taking time to consult, advise, and invest while working on some new ideas and figuring out the next.

I've had the privilege to co-found and have a successful exit of a bootstrapped award-winning startup, as well as to work at venture-backed startups, midmarket companies, and large enterprises - and even started it all out working for Mr. Wonderful himself Kevin O'Leary back in the day.

So far, my career to date has been a diverse and fascinating journey across sales, marketing, talent acquisition, consulting, operations, and entrepreneurship.

With a B2B focus for the last 15+ years, the common threads have always been using prior knowledge gained to take on completely new challenges, helping others to succeed, as well as passionate care about clients.

Just heard from a Founder that I admire and am rooting for.  

I had mentioned a book that is 20+ years old now to her called "The Power of Full Engagement." 

It's about how managing your energy, not your time, is the most important factor for high performance and personal success. Coauthor Jim Loehr, EdD started with sports psychology, and he and coauthor Tony Schwartz apply the principles of engagement / disengagement to business life. It works. I try to read it yearly to remind myself. 

She said it had made a huge impact on her - want to share it here as well where there's so much talk about burnout - particularly among founders but not solely of course. 

(Of course people who have worked for me over the years will know it - I made them all read it 😀.)

Additionally, not the first time I've said it - you can have such a huge impact on  founders by sharing things with them - even if it's just a complement. It's tough out there - just telling someone they're doing a good job may be something they haven't heard for goodness knows how long.
