Leading the new sales organization to go up-market and expand in to new industries and markets. Working to help Clipboard accomplish their mission of lifting as many people up the socio-economic ladder as possible. 

Clipboard Health uses technology to help nursing facilities (SNFs, senior care, hospitals) get the right nurse at the right place at the right time (CNAs, LVNs, RNs, NPs, etc). There is a well-known shortage of nurses nationwide, meanwhile many new nursing graduates are still unable to find a job 18 months after graduation. Clipboard health aims to solve this problem for the 4 million nurses who comprise one of top three most common jobs in the country.

One of the better pieces of advice I have received throughout the years is actually quite simple. 

The advice was, "Don't just work harder or longer until you know it's the right thing to be working hard on." 

Think about that; that's like not following the GPS in your car and just guessing the turns. Then, when you thought you were supposed to have already arrived, you actually pull up the GPS to find out you are miles and miles from your destination. 

The same thing can quickly happen in business, so have a well through out plan before you put the pedal to the metal.

Net new business generation is more challenging today then it has been for a long time in SaaS. 

There are tons of factors for this but one thing I am seeing is companies going all in on getting new customers, sometimes at the cost of their current customers.

Account management and rentention in my opinion is one of the most important things to get right today. 

Knowing it’s challenging to “fill the bucket” with new customers, you can’t let your bucket have big holes that are draining faster than you can fill it.

So many “gurus” that talk about getting up at 4am, 5am,  or working till midnight to get a head start on the day. 

There are people that can be morning people and people that can’t. 

Here is the thing about “advice”, you should listen to a lot of people and then apply parts that work best for you. 

Believe it or not, you are your own person, do what’s best for you.

For me, I love getting up to get a run in the morning and “chase the sun”, but that’s not for everyone.

Do you! And surround people that help build the best version of you!

Success in sales is not about brute forcing it and just working harder. 

You have to work smarter, but that doesn't mean game the system. 

That means: 
💡 Timeblock - so you can focus on one thing at a time, you are not as good at multi-tasking as you think you are

💡 Prioritize the harder or more creative tasks when you are at your best
 
💡 Take breaks - 10 mins here and there to get away from the screen 

💡 Ask for help always - Sales is not an individual sport 

💡 Consume knowledge constantly - read, review calls, notes, listen to podcasts, etc. 

Sales is not for the faint of heart but its an amazing career if you dedicate yourself to it

You work hard and push through things for the stuff you really care about. 

My 5-year old taught me this yesterday at his golf lesson.

It was 103 degrees outside, I gave him the option not to go because I was worried he would be to hot.

He loves golf, so not going wasn't an option. So we packed a bunch of water and electrolytes and took him. 

He did his hour-long golf lesson, and instead of running to the car like the rest of the kids to get to the air conditioning, he asked he could putt for a bit. 

He putted for 30-minutes before he was ready to go home. Red-faced and sweating like crazy, but a huge smile on his face. 

I was in awe, but it's because he really wanted to be there. 

It made me think of how I lead people in business. Am I creating an environment where they spend the majority of their time on the stuff they like, and am I removing enough obstacles for them? 

If you create a place for people to do what they love or what they love working on, you will be surprised how hard they actually work.

I have been seeing people post a ton about recorders that they are using to record and translate calls. 

I have seen Metaview, Gong, Fathom - AI Meeting Assistant, Clari..

I'm sure there are many more out there, but that is what I have used.
