Even though our national government signed the Paris Climate Agreement in 2015 and made the "Dutch Climate Agreement" in 2018, these agreements are not doing enough to create a safe and future-proof living environment for ourselves, our children and all other animal and plant species. Our way of life exceeds the limits of what the earth can provide for us. But there are plenty of ways to enjoy living together with friends, family and nature in harmony with the earth. It's still our choice to decide how we live together. Our national government however, by not addressing the climate- and ecological crises with the required urgency, is making it more difficult to live this way. Therefore I fully support Extinction Rebellion and participate in their actions @https://extinctionrebellion.nl/ Together with fellow ‘rebels’ I demand our government starts a Citizen’s Assembly and addresses the climate- and ecological crises as soon as possible. A Citizen's Assembly consists of a randomly selected group of ~150 citizens that reflect and represent the diversity of our society. The assembly will help us, as a democratic society, to decide on a fair way to reduce our emissions of greenhouse gasses to net-zero by 2025. This will help create a way of life that is respectful to each other and towards all life on earth!
