ICU/ NCCU Nursing Manager

Nursing leader for Surgical ICU. 14 bed unit. Ratio 1:2-3. Includes patient care audits, schedule balancing, patient and staff rounding, and open communication with directors in ancillary areas and nurse administration. I enjoy providing new nurse coaching and guidance, keeping positive morale on the unit and coordinating with our educator on in-services for unit needs. I take pride in creating an inviting atmosphere in the unit that has provided floated nurses the assurance that they have a team behind them even if merely for one shift.
As a bedside nurse I provide concise life saving measures to patients with life-threatening disease process or injury. I implement using evidence-based practice to keep our patients safe in every aspect of their care.

Surgical Trauma Progressive Care Unit. Provided care to critical care trauma patients as well as post surgical patients. Skills include full head to toe assessment, spinal precautions, external fixators, care and removal of chest tubes, Post surgical/trauma wound care, post-faciotomy care, ostomy care/trouble shooting, de-escalation of hostile/volatile patients, On-Q site care and maintenance, Patient Controlled Anesthetic (PCA) pump and epidural care.
Training of new on-hires, and new grads, and often took on nursing students.
I was placed in charge of Point of Care glucometer training for staff and annual recertification.

Trauma registered nurse

A 40 bed cardiac step-down unit with 24 hour telemetry monitoring. 1:4-5 patient to nurse ratio. 
Skills include basic cardiac antiarrythmic drip titrations, provided care for s/p coronary bypass, valve replacements and TAVR surgeries and participated in bedside cardioversions. 
This position allowed me the opportunity to become a clinical instructor for the University of Texas Nursing program, for which I trained 2 students over an allotted period of time. Along side this role, I also trained fellow employee, new hires and new grads.

ICCU/Cardiac PCU Registered Nurse

Trinity Surgery Center LLC

An ambulatory surgery center caring for patients of all ages with focus on surgery related to Pain Management and Dental, while catering to the community of special need adults and children. Age range 8 months to 80 years old. 1:3 nurse to patient ratio.
Management duties:
Created and lead in-services in regards to safe recovery s/p surgery, cardiac and respiratory resuscitation and emergent Malignant Hyperthermia actions. Collaborated with Director of Nurses and Medical Director to keep center in regulatory compliance and up to date equipment. Oriented, as well as, mentored new or contract staff and was able to fill in as Nurse Manager when Director was unavailable.

PACU RN/Manager

Experienced Intensive Care Nurse with 14 years of clinical experience. Currently manager of the ICU and NCCU at Methodist Hospital Stone Oak.
Experience includes years in an Ambulatory Surgery Center PCU/circulator, Cardiac progressive care, Surgical Trauma progressive care unit, & Medical/Surgical Intensive Care.
