Breaking up is hard. 

I’ve been there and got the T-shirt following the breakdown of my 22 year marriage. Practically everything about life changed overnight. I felt overwhelmed and alone.  I truly thought my life was over. 

Maybe you’re asking yourself "why did this happen to me?" 

Life is happening all around you but you’re stuck in limbo land and desperately want to feel happy again.  Perhaps you feel embarrassed or shame like I did because you aren’t supposed to get divorced.

You’re struggling in your new day-to-day life because of the emotional and physical toll that the divorce has had on you.  Usually you are the person who has it all together and you aren’t sure you are ever going to get back to that. You don’t know who you are and where you fit in.  

Or maybe you are stuck feeling triggered about your ex. Dreading each text or email. You are starting to see that you aren’t on the same page and you wonder if you ever were. Some days it is hard to take the high road.

Either through luck or design I had been working with a life coach before the divorce.  It allowed me to navigate through the pain and opened my mind to the possibility of life after divorce.

Now I help women who are divorced or in the midst of a break-up following a long relationship transition from WE to ME through one-on-one transformational life coaching.

Problems I solve for you:

> Neutralize your divorce, your ex and the breakdown of the relationship
> Recalibrate your identity (mom, employee, friend etc.) under your new life circumstances
> Reevaluate your support network identifying and closing any gaps

I want to have a heart-to-heart with you about that 𝗨𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘𝗗 feeling you are experiencing.
You know, the one that 𝗧𝗨𝗚𝗦 at your core, whispering that there's 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 to life.
Well, I'm here to tell you that feeling is 𝗩𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗗, and it's actually a 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗨𝗟 indication that you are out of alignment with your 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗘 self.
Society tries to fit us into neatly labeled 𝗕𝗢𝗫𝗘𝗦 -
📦 Wife
📦 Mom
📦 Daughter
📦 Employee
Society and those around us expect we will 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠 to predetermined roles and standards.
But 𝗗𝗘𝗘𝗣 down, we know something is just 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧.
I stayed in my marriage for 22 years. And to be completely transparent, 𝙄 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙙 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥.
I was 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖 of being married for life to acknowledge that staying together meant ignoring what my 𝗚𝗨𝗧 (that unsettled feeling) had been 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦.
I took that feeling of being "unsettled" to mean
𝐈 was doing it 𝗪𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗚.
𝐈 was the 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗠 that needed to be fixed.
If 𝐈 only worked 𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥, did 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘, got closer to 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡.
It 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 occurred to me that the 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟 problem was I had 𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗧 touch with the 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗘 𝐦𝐞. It happened 𝗦𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗟𝗬 over time as I put my roles and other people 𝗕𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘 myself. Years of 𝗡𝗘𝗚𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 my own needs and wants.
My divorce was my 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗬𝗦𝗧 for 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘.
I could have stayed 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗖𝗞 by focusing on how this 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗𝗡'𝗧 have happened.
But I 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗦𝗘 to step outside my 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗭𝗢𝗡𝗘.
I had 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 to 𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘...I was already 𝗦𝗔𝗗, 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗟𝗬, and 𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗬.
Stepping 𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗘 my comfort zone was 𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 but I discovered - that's where the 𝗠𝗔𝗚𝗜𝗖 happens.
That is where I could step on the 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗛 to my 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗘, 𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙.
You 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘 a life that 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦 you, 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦 you, and brings you 𝗝𝗢𝗬.
Whether it's in your career, relationships, or personal growth, 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝗦𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘.

🌅How do you kickstart your day? 🌅

Let's talk about the morning hustle! 
There's a big difference between the 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲—y'know, the one where you hit snooze a million times and stumble through your morning like a sleep-deprived zombie—and the i𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲—the one where you take charge and turn your morning into a masterpiece! 

So, picture this: 
The default morning routine is like your brain on autopilot. 
It's the same old song and dance, day in and day out. 
Snooze, scroll, slurp down coffee, and boom—you're off to the races without even realizing it! 🏃‍♀️💨

On the flip side is the intentional morning routine! 
It's like pressing the "refresh" button on your morning routine and adding a dash of pizzazz. 
Think morning dance parties, gratitude journaling sessions, and maybe even a little sunrise yoga thrown in for good measure. 
𝗬𝗢𝗨 get to decide how you want to start your day, setting the stage for success and happiness from the get-go.

When life throws a curveball we may think we need to double-down on control.

Whenever the topic of morning routines come up…inevitably someone declares - 
𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻.

This is an identity statement.
A declaration to the world and yourself something you believe to be true.

Just like anything else we declare - it can be met with affirmation or skepticism.

If you declared - I am an elephant. 🐘
I am pretty sure everyone would laugh. 
If I was committed to that statement they might suggest I get some counseling.

𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯.

Is an accepted identity in society.
So the response you get will be affirmative.
Very few people will challenge you, if any.

Well luckily for you - I am one of those people that are going to challenge you! 🧐

Does the identity of "I am not a morning person" help you be the person you 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲?
Does it make you 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱?
Does it feel 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲?
Or is it a 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯?

No need for judgement - just be curious.🔎

This is where your brain is going to pull out ALL the evidence for why you believe you are not a morning person.
Remember, our brains are designed to look for evidence to prove thoughts we have are true  - so nothing unexpected is happening.

Now that you've recognized the potential limitations of the "I am not a morning person" identity, it's time to explore how to shift it. 

Instead of labeling yourself as "not a morning person," reframe your identity to reflect qualities you aspire to embody in the morning, such as being energized, motivated, or productive.

I identify as a giver. 
Someone who does for others. 
I was trained from a young age to anticipate the needs of others. 
The adults in my life modeled that you politely decline help from others. 
I don't even think consciously about it.

So when I ask for help it feels awkward. It feels like I am failing.
When someone asks to help, my default response is "thanks, but I got it".

But what if asking for and accepting help was not about you at all?
What if it was about the other person?
Consider for a moment… 
    That person WANTS to help. 
    That they are a GIVER too and they GENUINELY want to be of service to you.
    By doing it all you rob them of the opportunity to GIVE.

In the upcoming week, I challenge you to
✅Look at your to-do list and ask someone to complete a task.
> Be specific in your ask…name the person and the task…don't say will someone help me?

✅If someone offers to help. Accept the offer. Say yes. And let them do the task.
