⇨ Led 57 member PTO Board and 27 PTO Committees to both enhance and support the educational experience at the school, develop the connection between school and home by encouraging parental involvement, build community resources, organize events and fundraising efforts, delegate appropriate resources and target specific school needs, and improve the overall environment at Lake Whitney through volunteer and financial support.

⇨  Designed and distributed bi-weekly school-wide email newsletter to almost 600 students, 60+ faculty and staff, and 1000+ parents.

AS LEAD LITERACY TEACHER: 

⇨ Collaborated with the administration, teachers, the area instructional office, and external partner to design and implement a cohesive K - 8th grade balanced literacy message.

⇨ Created and led professional development events, emphasizing literacy current best practices for new and veteran classroom teachers as well as nurtured individual educators through coaching and mentorship. 

⇨ Analyzed both classroom and school assessment data as well as in-class observations to craft literacy instruction for grades 4 - 8.

⇨ Stayed abreast of professional development within fiend by attending workshops at the Center for Urban School Improvement at the University of Chicago and sharing suggested strategies with staff.


AS SEVENTH GRADE READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER: 

⇨ Served as leader of three teacher team overseeing 90 total students as well as serving on the Young Author's Committee (2002, 2003, 2004), the Advisor-Advisee Quality Improvement Team (2002), and the Curriculum Alignment Team (2002).

⇨ Pioneered language arts instruction designed to improve reading and writing skills and prepare students for the ISAT and ITBS proficiency exams while also initiating specialized literacy instruction for students with special needs.

⇨ Implemented individualized instruction, activities, and assessments for both English courses as well as specialized literacy course designed to improve students' reading comprehension.

⇨ Aligned lesson plans with Georgia Quality Core Curriculum for life sciences in an effort to improve standardized test scores.
