I have been a Registered Nurse for 15 years working in areas such as surgical trauma, oncology, bone marrow transplant and internal medicine. Currently, I’m a virtual provider working as part of an incredible primary care medicine team at One Medical. My personal journey with endometriosis and passion for patient advocacy led me to found the 501(c)3non-profit organization, The Endometriosis Coalition which was incorporated in 2017, where I serve as Founder and Executive Director. Throughout the years, I have become an advocate for the chronic illness community at large. My advocacy work has been featured in Cosmopolitan, Women's Health, New York Times, The Tamron Hall Show, Marie Claire, Good Morning America, Insider, Washington Post, and The Today Show as part of Maria Shriver's "Women's Wellness Health DisruptHERS" segment. I am dedicated to helping assist in the wellness of those suffering from chronic illness through education, encouragement, and advocacy. I’m represented by Collective Speakers, a full-service speaking bureau. My book, Part of You, Not All of You: Shared Wisdom and Guided Journaling for Life With Chronic Illness was published in 2022, and remains an Amazon “Best Seller”. Lastly, I am a subject and narrative voice of “Below The Belt” a documentary that premiered on PBS in June, 2023. Below the Belt, by award-winning filmmaker Shannon Cohn and executive produced by Hillary Clinton, Rosario Dawson, Corinne Foxx, and Mae Whitman, exposes widespread problems in our healthcare systems. Through the lens of endometriosis, a disease that affects 1 in 9 women, the film shows how women are often dismissed, discounted & disbelieved. From societal taboos and gender bias to misinformed doctors and profit-driven healthcare, the film reveals how millions are effectively silenced and how, by fighting back, they can improve healthcare for all women. As a member of the film’s social impact team, we are working to create tangible change for endometriosis patients worldwide.
