Data enthusiast with a solid background in software engineering. My experience includes end-to-end development, maintenance, root cause analysis, and exceptional support. The mix of programming, statistics, and storytelling that typifies a data scientist's role is a recently discovered passion, after more than 20 years of satisfying a need for challenge and accomplishment through designing, writing, and maintaining applications related to consumer solicitations, marketing, and retail. I am a voracious life-long learner and imaginative problem solver, and am excited about becoming a part of (and ideally shaping!) the future of analytics. Outside of my professional life, I have a long-standing love for music across a wide variety of genres, live and recorded. Over the years I've learned to play a few instruments, and learned the basics of writing and recording. I am also a cycling enthusiast--you will likely find me rolling down an exurban road or trail with a friend or two on weekends, and during the week, I prefer to commute by bike as weather and time permit. I've also used my passion for cycling to raise funds for a number of organizations over the years, most frequently the Minnesota MS-150 and the Red Ribbon Ride.
