In this position as Utility Locator, I work with the engineering group for Construction Planning. I am responsible for providing the best routes and updating the local telecom infrastructure via data collection for permits to the city of Tucson to upgrade areas to retrofit existing legacy copper equipment to fiber optics at the curb. Specific duties include collecting telephone pole and utility information, completing fiber fielding data in accordance with Lumen/CenturyLink specifications, reading highway/road prints, identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, and select routing of lines and equipment required for work projects; use of GIS and Google earth to field fiber network routes.
