My responsibility is to work with our clients to help develop a strategic approach to their events and communications activities, and provide creative solutions to help them realise their objectives (as well as helping them define these in the first place!)  With responsibility for helping our clients’ businesses grow through the work we do, it’s also important to add value and showcase MCI’s in house expertise and solutions along the way.  This ranges from the concept and research area of a marketing need or challenge, through to the legacy and measurement piece post project.

People development is another key piece of the role.  Long term this is to help our team to realise their professional ambitions and provide support to allow them to do this, as well as making sure they’re the best they can be in the shorter term; providing a great service for our clients.

Client Director, Live Experience

Within the Project Director role I was responsible for retaining existing client accounts alongside ensuring excellence in delivery and quality service from the operational team.  The role included being the operational lead on large and complex projects, while supporting and mentoring team members throughout delivery on all projects the department delivered.  Resourcing and people development for the Live Experience department was also a key part of my role, as well as managing profitability on all operational activity. 

This role involved working closely with the account Client Director on pricing, and alongside all other MCI internal teams (digital, creative, technical production, commercial etc.) with the view to add strategic value for the client whenever possible.  My job was to help our clients measure and increase the success of their event, communications and marketing activities that we worked with them on, ensuring a successful outcome for all stakeholders involved.

Project Director, Live Experience

•	Deliver events on time within budget and to meet and exceed client’s expectations
•	Actively set, communicate and maintain timelines and priorities on every project
•	Communicate, maintain and develop client relationships with a view to retaining existing business and developing new opportunities
•	Manage supplier relationships and actively see opportunities and cross sell MCI product practices.
•	Manage operational functions as required to ensure effective and efficient delivery
•	Provide leadership, direction and support to the team whilst maintaining motivation and enthusiasm to deliver projects successfully 
•	Travel on site inspections and attend and project manage events
•	Be fully responsible for all project budgets from conception through to reconciliation
•	Pro-actively report up to the Account Director
•	Drive for excellence in customer service and quality delivery.
•	Monitor and maintain quality and adherence to processes, identifying and contributing to their improvement.
•	Take responsibility for team management and team decisions in the absence of the Account Director and report to the Director of Meetings and Events in this instance
•	Assist with the preparation of client proposals and pitch activity
•	Represent MCI UK (and the wider group) when required
•	Liaise with internal staff at all levels across MCI as well as with clients, suppliers and trade and professional associations and industry bodies
•	Four to five years experience of working as an Account Manager and managing large complex events in a number of different sectors
•	A good understanding of budget implications with regards to VAT, TOMS and ATOL
•	A full awareness of event risk assessment and health and safety implications
•	Good destination knowledge within the UK and overseas
•	Proven track record in account management of multiple events
•	Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships
•	Experience in complex budget monitoring and management
•	Interest in current business issues
