As the management accountant at Fearless, my job is to support the partners with all things performance, monthly reporting and analysis. This is bespoke depending on what the partner needs and I'm happy to help in anyway I can. This could be putting financial processes in place, or evaluating and improving the ones already in place. Helping the partner in using their accounting systems to their full advantage. Creating a structure for monthly management meetings to ensure the entrepreneur's are analysing the financial performance regularly and using accurate information for them to make decisions.

I oversaw a team of 3, who were responsible for all the transactional processing for UK & USA offices, ensuring our tight monthly deadlines were met. But also as an escalation process; someone they can turn to for help; as well as mentoring them all through their AAT exams at various levels.

I am still responsible for the monthly management reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and consolidated group Cash Flow. I also assisted the wider group to implement the new software, Oracle, which included a couple of trips to our Berlin office.

I was approached by a recruitment agency and head hunted for an exciting opportunity at a very new, up and coming company, Social Chain. They were looking for someone with work experience who would fit into the modern team. I was the first person within the finance department I implemented the use of Social Chain's first computerised accounting software, Xero. 

I also assisted with set up of the US entity, including setting up the American bank account and Quickbooks system. I managed the Sales & Purchase Ledger for both the US & UK as well as producing the Monthly Management Accounts for both countries. 

Whilst I undertook this amazing new challenge I also completed AAT Level 4 and hired an apprentice and helped him to study for AAT too.

I was promoted to Senior Finance Assistant while I continued to study in the evenings and completed AAT Level 3. I was working very closely with the Financial Controller and owners of the company. I was responsible for Month End adjustments and BS reconciliations. I was also implemented a complicated Daily Company Profit Report which I produced using Excel, Formulas include SUMIF and VLOOKUP.

With this promotion I was given the opportunity to oversee the the Purchase Ledger Clerk and ensure all her responsibilites were also completed.

I was asked if I'd like to move into the finance team as the owner of the company had noticed my talent for Excel, and I'd also asked if there would be a possibility to progress with AAT. It was here I started with the very basics of assisting month end and doing bank reconciliations.

I completed AAT Level 2 by doing online evening lessons whilst working full time.

After 10 months of working at TVD I was promoted to running the ecom sales team, I was managing two people.

After a year of working at Jason Packaging, I wanted to move out of my parents house, so I moved to Bolton which was therefore difficult for me to get to work using public transport.

It was here where I started to do finance administration, and started looking into gaining AAT Qualifications. I was also working on a daily excel spreadsheet for one of the owners of the company reporting on manufacturing levels, whilst doing the normal roles of a receptionst; answering the phone; meeting & greeting visitors.

Even though I left school with brilliant GCSE Results, the normal higher education route just wasn't for me. I left school and decided to follow my passion for football coaching and working with young people, whilst studying for an apprenticeship. However I realised that the career prospects in this industry were very limited, hence why I started to gain experience of working in an office.
