I attacked this dynamic position with a zeal most commonly associated with educators and salespeople. I helped launch the Food & Wine-recognized bar and brought in 10+ regulars (two of which led to a food truck collaboration and continuing partnership), told the engaging stories of many a cider maker, found oodles of folks their new favorite beverage, enjoyed countless laughs, took in piles of new information, and formed many lasting relationships. It was an honor to have had an impact on the start up of Lost Valley and to have spent time behind its beautiful, reclaimed and craft-made bar.

The Rave/Eagles Club

Housed in a historic, allegedly haunted edifice, The Rave/Eagles Club is one of the largest live music and event venues in Milwaukee and hosts a diverse range of artists ranging from Marilyn Manson to the legendary Mac Miller. I had the jealousy-invoking job of getting paid to attend shows to Instagram, Facebook, Tweet, and Snapchat the action. My goal was to capture that special moment that everyone wishes they could've captured themselves; the one that made people's nights; the one that brought the crowd together over a universally emotional response. My event coverage was reposted by their subjects many times, some of the more noteworthy reposters being Juicy J and Yellowcard. My favorite memories include interacting with artists like The Wailers on Instagram and Twitter, bumping into rockstars in hallways like Chris from Motionless in White, checking out The Rave's super-cool interview room, and - the pièce de résistance - getting lost in a back stairwell only to end up in the basement confronted head-on by the spookiest room of them all: the condemned natatorium (signed by Steve Aoki!).

"When you see Saz’s social media-style, it’s Jess behind the content. In 2009, Jess joined the Saz’s team as a bartender and catering associate. Later that same year, she headed down to Texas (inspired by Saz’s barbecue, perhaps?), where she gained an education in Creative Advertising and Human Rights. Jess thrives on travel and new experiences and has spent months in Spain, Peru, and New York, peeking in on many unique cultures along the way. Fortunately, 2013 brought Jess back to Saz’s, this time in a dynamic marketing role heavy on the social. Spreading her focus across the six divisions of SHG, Jess functions as an epicenter of information and an endlessly responsive creator of content. The variety, spontaneity, and approachability of Saz’s that appealed to her in ’09 hasn’t budged a bit, but her experience and adoration for her hometown has. From music and food to the arts and raw nature, Jess is passionate about Milwaukee’s quirky character. It’s only fitting, then, that she would find a home at Saz’s. After all, in Jess’ own words, she’s 'proud to work for a company that contributes so much to Milwaukee’s culture.' Using graphic design, photography, video, copywriting, and a bit of extroversion, I created content that -- when distributed through digital, print, and nontraditional channels -- promoted the eight-division hospitality group in a way that successfully transitioned the public's opinion of it from an out-of-date BBQ joint to one that entices each of its diverse target markets from high-end wedding and event planners to Wisconsin sports tailgaters.

Best memory: Being selected for a hospitality management role at Lambeau Field's official Tundra Tailgate Zone and Fan Walkway, managed by SHG. I worked every home game for three seasons to ensure a memorable experience for all guests from pre to post game.
