I promise, I’m not being ridiculous…
I’m scared for my future.

At 36 (going on 37) and 15 years into my tech career, I can’t shake this thought:

I might only have 1, maybe 2 jobs left in my tech career.
Which sucks, because I feel like I'm just hitting my prime. 

Unfortunately, the perception ais that at my age is that I'm a dinosaur. ESPECIALLY as a marketer. 

That’s why I’m grateful for Maureen Wiley Clough of It Gets Late Early! In her recent BI interview, she put words to what so many of us feel: the career window in tech is brutally small.

I was lucky to grab 30 minutes with her, and after that conversation I can say without a doubt:

Jobseekers, it’s not your fault.

For the first time since 2021, the U.S. has more unemployed people (7.24M) than job openings (7.18M).

 👉 Basically, more people chasing fewer jobs.

If you’re in the middle of a long job search, the anxiety, uncertainty, and sleepless nights are real. 

Anyone who’s been through it knows it can feel like the world is crashing down. Just know, things do turnaround. 

The market shifts, opportunities open up, and eventually the right role comes along.

This is one of those moments. It doesn’t make the waiting easier, but I hope it reminds you that what you’re feeling is human, and temporary.

And while none of us can flip macroeconomics overnight, there are people working on ways to make the journey less scary.
