I have led the development (and also performed much of the hands-on engineering work) of many of Altana's core technologies, including the machinery that fuses and resolves numerous sources of shipping and firmographic data to construct Altana's core knowledge graph, and the machinery that constructs a product-specific value chain from an entity's shipment network.

I was responsible for all software engineering leadership, technology choices, and management of the SAFe agile development process and of ~30 software engineers on a project to modernize a government information system with tens of thousands of users worldwide across dozens of different services on several different networks.

Orbital Insight

OI is a geospatial analytics software and data-product company who use machine learning to turn aerial imagery and other geospatial data into insights. My role there was the overall engineering lead for their entire public-sector practice. This included managing agile development of the company's flagship product (written in Python), leading several multimillion-dollar data-science projects to deploy and customize this product for government clients, and also extensive individual data-science and software engineering contributions on both the core product development and on those bespoke projects. For a period of about five months, I was also the acting Product Manager for the company's flagship product.

DSG is a small boutique consulting firm who specialize in projects requiring advanced technical skills. There, I worked on two projects for a government customer. One, which I led, used machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) to process very large quantities of documents. The other involved bulk data analytics on cybersecurity-related data.

I was Invincea's lead on a very large government cybersecurity project.

Senior Principal Research Engineer

Digital Reasoning

I led the Federal Services group consisting of ~12 employees. This group performed professional services, data science, and custom software development in the area of text and data analytics. The practice centers on Synthesys, Digital Reasoning's flagship machine-learning natural language processing product. In addition to running the division, I was an active and hands-on technical lead on several projects.

Note: I was hired as Technical Director, but in a few months promoted to Director.

Director, Federal Services

I was the general manager as well as an active software developer for the WAREMAN® Pro suite of entity resolution and data-analytics software, and then deployed and managed a WAREMAN-based entity resolution and data analytics system for a government client. I also worked for clients on big-data analytics and visualization solutions to help users interpret and make sense of enormous volumes of structured and unstructured data.

I am a software developer, data scientist, ML engineer, manager and leader with a long track record of successfully delivered software and solutions.

I have extensive leadership experience - I have held a number of Director-level positions as well as VP of Engineering - but my passion is for hands-on software development. 

I am an expert in Python and C++, and experienced with many other languages and technologies.
