Making profitable animation for brands 🎞

Jim is uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person, but this is the only flaw in an otherwise impeccable creative career.

Oscars, BAFTAs and Golden Globes are some of the awards he hasn't received yet, instead it seems he's dedicated his life to making (sometimes) funny videos.

BBH, Mother, Crispin Porter are some of the agencies he wishes he'd worked at. Instead he has had to make do with very productive years spent at WCRS, 1576 - (Look it up.) - Leith, Red Bee, Mustoes,(Beta) and BBC Creative among others.
Extensively awarded for his work but the only real reward is writing great ideas.
The last sentence is entirely genuine by the way.

I'm sure everyone’s parents used the classic trick: “Finish your vegetables, and then you'll get pudding.” 

In the script for this video, at mid-level, I said: "Yeah, that was okay, but I want to get onto pro and God Mode where you’ll really see my talents shine!” (whatever the fuck that means) but that line did create a reason to keep watching. In short-form video, setups are crucial. They build anticipation and keep your audience hooked.

And by saying "God Mode," it raises the bar especially after seeing how bad the first two attempts are people think “Can this idiot actually deliver on that promise?” That curiosity drives engagement and keeps people watching until the end.

I’ve been forced to work with B2B companies since posting on LinkedIn. Here are the differences I’ve seen when making ads and content:

None.

I don't think there is any, And I think that can be proven with one very simple question:

Why are you on LinkedIn right now?

You’ve probably got 101 more important things to be doing, but here you are scrolling.

And with that in mind, anything we make for social, B2C or B2B, is an interruption.

No one is actively coming onto a platform hoping to see your ad or your content.

So I think you’ve got two options:

1. Educate

Where a lot of traditional B2B lands, I guess.
“This is how and why our product or service is going to change your life.”
(Difficult to do in 30 seconds.)

2. Entertain

Make someone smile.

Even better: laugh.

Even better than that:
Make them laugh about a pain they have that directly ties back to your product or service. That shows you actually understand them.
(Easy to do in 30 seconds.)

Both options are a trade between you and the audience.

You interrupt them, but you give them something.

Education or a laugh.

And in return, they give you a little piece of their time.

But maybe I’ve got it all wrong.
Maybe everyone is here desperately hoping to stumble across a “Market Penetration Roadmap 2026.”?

I love the idea of AI agents, little digital helpers running around the internet doing tasks for you.

But I'm clueless to how you actually build one.

Yana from Timeless reached out about making a video for their launch.
 
Their angle:  Your conversations build the agent for you.

The difference between cleaning with a manual vacuum… or letting the robot do it while you’re out and with a cat and a dog I loooooooove my robot vacuum!!!!!!!

For the video, I imagined the agent as a tiny man you might get from Amazon Prime, a shiny, perfect image on the box… and the slightly grumpy, untrained, messy-looking version that arrives.

Felt like the perfect way to show the gap between AI promises and reality while creating a fun visual hook.

Apart from three AI angles, this is a Motion Graphics piece.

Any time I can lean on on-screen text, it avoids dodgy AI lip-sync and keeps everything sound-off friendly.

Great fun to make.
