Should everyone be a creator?

My 5 learnings after 6 months of writing on LinkedIn.

I never wanted to post on social media until I decided to face my fears and jump in.

Here’s 5 things I’ve learnt after 6 months as a creator on LinkedIn.

1. You will be afraid of posting.
2. You won’t always be motivated.
3. You need to constantly network.
4. You need to be super consistent.
5. You probably won’t see fast results.

It’s not for everyone.

But the benefits are insane:

– New clients find you daily.
– You get to meet new people.
– You find new job opportunities.
– You build a portfolio of thoughts.
– You can grow your own business.
– You create freedom for yourself.

Creating on LinkedIn might seem hard.

But if you don’t try, you’ll never know.

Want to remember what you learn?

3 tips that will help you immediately:

(These help when you’re learning something new)

1. Stop reading for long hours
– You lose focus after 25 minutes.
– Reading long hours doesn’t help you.

Instead: 
↳ Study for 25 minutes.
↳ Take a 5 minute break.

2. Use primacy and recency to your advantage
– Primacy: You remember things in the beginning.
– Recency: You remember the most recent things.

Studying for 8 hours straight means:
– You’ll remember the beginning and end.
– But there will be a dip in between.

Instead: 
↳ Take strategic breaks after 25 minutes.
↳ This way, you create more beginnings & ends.
↳ And you’ll remember more. Voilà.

3. Apply by teaching what you’ve learned
– Teaching others means learning twice.

How to:
↳ Summarise your 3-5 key learnings.
↳ Present them to a friend.
↳ Let them ask you questions.
↳ Write down the ones you can’t answer.
↳ Find answers to the questions to close the gap.

I’m confident that these 3 tips will help your learning process a ton.

How I handle difficult emotions (in no time)

Most people overcomplicate their emotions. As a result, they make things even worse.

They feel overwhelmed.
✖️They start overthinking.
↳ And feel more overwhelmed.

Here’s what I do instead:

Feeling overwhelmed — act
Feeling overloaded — rest
Feeling stressed — walk
Feeling tired — sleep
Feeling stuck — write
Feeling nervous — breathe
Feeling distracted — prioritise

Everyone is different, so these might also look different for you. But it’s not about that.

It’s about finding out what works for you!

You can’t control external factors.
But you can control your response to them.

Everyone wants to do meaningful work.

But only few people succeed (can’t believe I’m doing this)

If you know me, you know that in 2019 I ended up in a job I hated, in politics.

A position that made me

– get sick all the time.
– do things I didn’t believe in.
– question the meaning of work.

You also know that in 2020 I left that job to start from scratch in a field I had no experience in. → Innovation.

Within only 6 months,

– I went from sick to healthy.
– I got life-changing projects.
– I was able to travel the world.

All because I dared to do my own thing.

That’s why I genuinely believe that we can all

– live a happy life.
– do meaningful work.
– be aligned with our values.

It only takes the right strategy.

3 fluff-free tips to help you immediately.

I’ve worked with 100+ aspiring founders. The number 1 reason they hold back is the fear of judgement.

Here’s 3 tips to overcome it:

1. Start with baby steps.

– Do the tiniest action possible.
– Then slowly do more of the uncomfortable.
– e.g. comment for a month, then start posting

→ Step by step you’ll get used to the exposure.

2. Spread kindness.

– Leave a kind comment.
– Offer others your support.

→ Spread kindness and it will come back to you.

3. Get a buddy.

– Someone who’s with you no matter what.
– Tell them everything you’re struggling with.
– They’ll support you + get you back on track.

→ This will show you that you’re not alone.

It’s only 3 tiny things but if you implement them, they will help you a lot!

Never hold back. Always do!

Want to improve your memory?

3 daily steps to help you get there (easy to implement)

After countless books, seminars, and workshops about brain fitness, here’s my favourite learnings on how to improve your memory.

1. Every night, review your day

Take 2-3 minutes to reflect on these questions:

– How did you wake up?
– What did you do first?
– Who did you talk to ?
– What did you eat?

2. Pull out 1-3 things you’re grateful for.

– Make a list of the things money can’t buy
— What you appreciate, appreciates.

3. Good sleep → good memory.

– Muscles grow when they rest.
– Your brain also needs to rest.
– So, no all-nighters please!

Don’t just train your body.
Train your mind too!

Most people overcomplicate business.

– read 52 books a year.

– consume 100s of Youtube videos.
– come up with a ground breaking idea.

What they really need to do:

– Have a vision to guide them.
– Get one mentor to learn from.
– Stop overthinking, start doing.
– Stop consuming, start creating.

The most effective things are often the simplest.
