•	Enrolled on the College of Media and Publishing’s Copywriting course in September 2017.  Completed 14 writing assignments and graduated in March 2018 with a Distinction grade.
•	Independently published a science fiction novel aimed at a young adult audience in November 2013 (http://tinyurl.com/SarahSciFi).
•	Manages a Twitter account (https://twitter.com/jh_barron) and a blog (https://jhbarron.weebly.com) to promote the novel and engage with readers.
•	Studied English Literature at the University of East Anglia (UEA) from 2003 to 2006, writing numerous essays and a 5,000 word dissertation during this time.
•	Enrolled on a Creative Writing course in the final year of study, where two short stories and seven poems were assessed at degree level.
•	Was a member of UEA’s Creative Writing Society and had two short stories published in “Concrete”, the university’s campus newspaper.
•	Wrote several book reviews and articles, which were published in the university’s arts magazine.

Provided a high level of administrative service to a large team of Facultative brokers.  Managed and implemented all departmental administrative functions.  Responsibilities were:

•	Produced accurate contracts and endorsements on Microsoft Word, demonstrating a superb standard of written English.  Proofread documents for errors and queried items for confirmation, displaying exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
•	Drafted letters and certificates of notification for use by internal and external clients.  Contacted external legal agencies to confirm information and wording.
•	File production: collated and proofread documents for official presentations and external meetings.  Created and edited PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets for departmental use.
•	Organised files for submission for the Professional Standards Review.  Sole responsibility for retrieving files from storage and inspecting them for errors and omissions.  Created both hard and soft copy records to track the progress of the files.  All files were received and returned on time and in good condition, resulting in a 3% increase on the preliminary score from the review team.
•	Managed policy queries and company communications.  Regularly sent out internal communications via email to all colleagues in the department.
•	Delivered one-to-one training to new starters in the use of departmental IT systems.
•	Revamped staff holiday and absence records to increase efficiency.  Redesigned holiday booking forms and tracking documents.  Regularly liaised with colleagues to ensure accuracy.  Highlighted management absence to staff through a weekly report.
•	Organised room bookings for internal and external client meetings.  Assisted with setting up audio/visual presentation facilities.  Arranged video and teleconference calls.

Team Secretary

The Football Association

Two years experience in a compact team of six people, working across a client group of 400.  Supported the HR function during a period of organisational restructure.  Responsibilities were:

•	Assisted in the implementation of an integrated HR strategy by providing an efficient and effective administration service.  
•	Created 400 new contracts for all office and home based staff, using Microsoft Word.  Carried out an audit of all staff personal files, verifying information held before drafting new contracts.  Ensured the timely completion and circulation of all contracts, maintaining an up-to-date record of those signed and received.
•	Coordinated the recruitment of 30 new regional coach positions, from advertisement to induction.  Designed adverts and application forms after conducting online research.  Liaised with advertising agencies in the distribution of adverts and application forms to external websites.
•	Prepared offer packages, requested and checked references, completed CRB forms and sent out welcome packs.
•	Designed a recruitment database to hold all vacancy and candidate information.  Responded to direct applications and contacted candidates via phone and email to arrange interview schedules.
•	Redrafted existing job descriptions for recruiting line managers.
•	Worked closely with Directors and senior managers in designing organisational charts during a time of restructure.

HR Administrator

Two months experience in an administrative team of five people, supporting a large network of IT contractors.  Responsibilities were:

•	Supported the smooth running of departmental business and supervised central records.
•	Managed and updated local databases, working to strict daily timetables. Communicated the presence of any errors and anomalies to all team members.
•	Produced reports three times a day, which had to be delivered to morning, afternoon and evening deadlines.
