Our clients past and present include: Ali Abdaal, Sahil Bloom, Jordan Peterson, Chris Williamson, Greg Isenberg, Mikhaila Peterson, Andreessen Horowitz and many more founders, authors, and public speakers. My first job in the creator economy was working for Ali Abdaal for 3 years where, in Noah Kagan’s words, I was the “creator behind the creator.” Now, we use 7+ years of experience to build personal brands that position our clients as the expert in their industry. On a personal note, in 2021 I went through a severe period of burnout which was the worst year of my life. I lost my full-time job from the pandemic and put everything into starting Amplify. I flew out the gates building a business around my passion for content creation, but nobody can sprint forever. The result was damaged relationships, my first run-in with my mental health difficulties and any 'progress' I had made in those initial first business quarters was soon washed away. For months I didn't feel myself, I lost enjoyment in my work, and I couldn't make progress. I was stuck. I share this because, as a creator and founder, I know how important it is to have a great team around you and to systematise your content growth so that you can focus on what truly matters. Your content has to be a flywheel that is working for you and it's essential to have a strategy up-to-date with what's working TODAY. If you've made it this far, it's great to meet you. Well last week's post aged well You don't want high engagement, you want what it brings. I felt stuck as I was receiving so many AI comments on my content and it felt out of my control This was confirmed by Favikon's new authenticity score which was a cool move by their team It was a catch 22 because LinkedIn includes your own replies in the total number of comments – so there I was replying to comments even if they were clearly AI LinkedIn you listening? A quick solution would be to only show the number of unique comments on a post. That's better for everyone involved I've hammered home before how you shouldn't outsource your voice on here But your network? C'mon that's non-negotiable Spending time to knowledge share, to build your reputation, to learn from others... that's the beauty of this platform we all spend too much time on I realised last week that these 3rd party AI tools don't even achieve the benefit people are going after using them LinkedIn tracks dwell time as one way it perceives quality, so if you're not on the platform engaging with other people's posts, it's having no benefit It's an ineffective method giving you nothing back. It'll never lead to the outcome you want of an audience who are bought into your way of doing things Shout-out Matt Barker for his 🔥 post on this last week. His solution is to remove AI comments as they come in and maybe block those doing it. Sounds good to me All I want is real connection in this house 🏠

Nobody ever talks about this. How well do you know your own work style? There are thousands of videos online about how to be more productive. They’re usually boring, generic pieces of advice from somebody who’s never met you before. It probably mentions to have more breaks (nice!) and to outsource your work (not always possible…) In business, we create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for EVERYTHING except ourselves. It’s crazy. So I built my own and here’s how you can too: After losing hundreds of hours trying generic advice, I built: A personal SOP for every mental state. My Notion template contains exact actions for when: - Focus disappears - Energy crashes mid-day - Decision-making feels impossible It gives me pre-decided solutions when I'm least equipped to make decisions. The difference? I’m able to spot my own patterns before they become a problem. Here's how to build yours: 1. Document your recurring challenges (focus, energy, mood) 2. Track your own solutions for what actually works in those moments 3. Create a step-by-step strategy for your future struggling self 4. Keep it in Notion, Google Docs, or wherever you'll use it Make sure your operating system includes you. I call this The Personal SOP and you can grab my free template here: https://lnkd.in/eE4n4bVj "You don't rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems." Yesterday, we kicked off our first cohort. The energy was so high, the chat was popping off, and I couldn’t have asked for more. It feels great to bring to life something that’s been a goal for a very long time. The past month has been a huge effort from the team, but now the real work begins. Giving each and every person the best experience possible to leave them with systems, strategies, and most importantly, clarity. We wanted to operate a test-run with my network to have a very tight feedback loop. We so nearly just went ahead and filmed a course, thinking we knew best - but already after the first 2-hour session, I now know that would’ve been a mistake. You can’t beat putting smart people together. And you can’t shortcut getting direct feedback from your customers. It’ll be 2 months until I can share with you what we’ve been building. But until then, Amplify Academy is underway with our Founding Members 🚀

I'm a huge fan of personality tests. I have two favourites: 1. 16 Personalities 2. The Predictive Index When I took The Predictive Index I was stopped in my tracks. My results told me I was "Individualistic" and that comes with a whole heap of problems. - I don't delegate. - I try to do everything myself. - I don't communicate well These root problems are the cause of 90% of the issues I face every week. Taking these tests gave me great clarity about that. They revealed to me just how much I need to unlearn. One thing that doesn’t get talked about enough is the leap from being a doer to managing or leading a team. Most businesses start with one person doing the work. They do it well and demand increases. Over time, to fulfil the demand, they are left with a choice and most choose to hire. Suddenly, they’re managing others and the founder who once loved doing the work has removed themselves from it - left to deal with admin, HR, hiring and everything else that comes with running a business. This shift is tough. At school and in early career roles, being "Individualistic" is rewarded. But in entrepreneurship? It’s a different ballgame. I love what I do, but I’ll be honest, I wasn’t prepared for the transition.

I’m writing outside today. Something I’ve learned about myself is that I work really well outdoors. I have no idea why that is - but I’ve been leaning into it. This normally looks like one of two methods: 1. Sitting outside with my laptop Just like playing lofi beats or brown noise can help with focus, for some reason when I’m outside I really snap into focus. Spending more time in Florida makes this easier with all-year sun, but right now it’s sunny in the UK and it’s been really great for reducing stress and feeling more present. 2. Recording voices notes on a walk Today I’m wrestling with some topics I’ve researched to create frameworks for our founding members cohort. Sometimes using an iPad helps for this - another way I feel more creative - but today I felt too cooped inside so I’ve gone for a walk. There’s loads of tools and apps for this, but right now I just use the Recorder app on my phone and talk my mind. To get a readable transcript does require capturing good audio - a standard pair of Apple wired earphones do the trick nicely ($20) I’ll come up with ideas as I walk, hitting somewhere between 10-15k steps by the time I’m finished which beats my average 10-15 steps to the fridge. Does anybody else actively work outside or is that just me?

That's a wrap on our Founding Members cohort! 16+ hours of live training over 4 weeks. It's absolutely flown by. I have 100% caught the bug for live training and this really feels like the start of what I want to create for you. The energy of a live cohort is unmatched and I couldn't have asked for a better group to run a first version with. My biggest takeaway? Never, EVER ship something without doing a test first. I am the king of late deadlines and rushing things, but BOY am I happy we did this before filming the self-paced version of our signature product. Literally 50% of what we created to teach got changed in real-time as we listened to everything our students wanted and needed. That was the best part of the whole experience. A big thank you to the Amplify team for making this happen - and to these awesome people for giving me an experience I won't forget. Now we take our personal brands to the moon 🚀 P.S. "ChatGPT is harming our brains." I definitely use it for more things than I should, but here's a positive use case. For years, I avoiding filming videos because I told myself I "wasn't technical". That changed when I had to teach a live cohort. ChatGPT was a lifesaver helping with: - What microphone to buy for a professional set-up - How to set-up the mic to my Macbook - How to optimise sound in post-production - How to balance teaching live while prioritising a high-quality recording - Listing every problem that could go wrong as a first-timer (with a solution for each scenario) To my surprise everything went pretty much perfectly. Oh, except sitting down to film with my face completely blurry. But that was a Joe-thing not having the lens on right 😅 ... a story for another day... Sure there's pros and cons with all tech, but this was really a huge enabler for me. Now to stop using it to optimise a gym routine when I don't go to the gym!

I was invited as one of 200 Leaders of Tomorrow to Switzerland. This surprised me. What happened next surprised me even more. I was then chosen as one of 15 people to facilitate a group challenge. As team lead, my role was to bring together some of the sharpest young minds to tackle a challenge sponsored by Accenture. It seems I don’t get many chances to chill nowadays 😅 there’s always another growth opportunity pushing me out of my comfort zone. “How can Europe position itself in the global tech ecosystem?” I felt a little out of my depth with the topic, but I wasn’t selected because I was an expert, I was selected as somebody who could bring a group of people together. We had less than 2 hours to tackle the problem, to create an innovative solution, and then to create a 1-minute video to share with all of the attendees… We won. Thanks to the incredible talent in my team, we were voted as a finalist by the 200 Leaders of Tomorrow to pitch our solution further to an audience of senior leaders and CEOs. To go from thinking “why me” to actually winning… was amazing. This reminded me that the goal isn’t to be the smartest person in the room. Often, it’s not the work of one person that leads to an impact, it’s a collective power rallying behind a mission. Working with such smart, curious, and empathetic people was contagious. “Remember in the face of challenge that you were the one who asked for growth.”

6am. My alarm goes off. At 10am I need to be at the train station to the airport. But I'd promised the team I'd record a Free Training course for them while I was out of town. If I filmed it now, it could be edited by the time I was back - that was too good of an opportunity to miss. By the time I’m set up to film it’s 7am. Just 3 hours to record a whole course? Let's do it. I check EVERYTHING. From how the plant pot is angled in the background, to crucially, that the camera’s focus is on my face. Camera battery? Check. Microphone battery? Full and the receiver is firing. So what could go wrong? I'm done in 1 hour 47 mins. I check the footage... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ When I sat down the focus was perfectly on my face, but 60 seconds later I moved and it focused on the plant pot instead. You’ve got to be kidding me. Bad audio you can fix... but no AI tool can change the focus from a plant pot to my face. Ok, time to reset. I have 55 minutes left to film a 45-minute course. By some miracle I one-take that bad boy, pack up, throw myself into the car, and make the train on time for the second moment of truth. I put the SD card into my laptop and… It happened again. It's bloomin' happened again. I now feel stressed af - the morning was WASTED - and my head’s pounding from the 6am start I get to the airport. I'm sitting at the gate wondering how on earth I can salvage this (yes I've been told I'm stubborn) Refusing to be empty-handed I find the nearer airport lounge, pay £25 to get in, and head straight to the meeting room. I put up a "Reserved" sign, and start moving the furniture around (sorry Gatwick). I filmed the training for the 3rd time that morning in the airport lounge, pausing every 10 minutes as a plane quite literally flew over my head. To share a lesson from this stressful experience I'd say: 1. Always check the focus on your camera (obvious takeaway) 2. There's always a solution If you know you're creating something of value, be happy with whatever form it takes I'll share that Free Training with you as soon as it's edited. It's good - I should know - I filmed it 3x times!

Right, it’s time to be honest. Earlier this year, I dabbled in more viral content. I massively regret it. Welcome to my TED talk… Just because some types of content grow your following, that doesn’t mean you should post them. The direction many are heading on this platform is not, in my honest opinion, towards content that’s genuinely high quality. Of course, what’s high or low quality is entirely subjective - it comes down to what you’re trying to achieve. If your goal is to build the largest audience humanly possible and then monetise that scale - amazing. Play the numbers game. Viral content works for that. But most people? They’re building a personal brand to become known in their industry, grow their business, and connect with the right people. Earlier this year, I got busy. Really busy. And in that chaos, for a month or two, I defaulted to what I saw working for others: viral formats and broad ideas targeted at the masses. My following pretty much doubled. It felt efficient. But it was a trap. On the surface, everything looked like it was flying - impressions up, engagement up, follower count climbing fast. But here’s the problem: The content could have come from anyone. Which meant I became irrelevant. People were following the message - but not me. And when that happens, slowly but surely, the connection with your audience begins to fade away. It feels hollow. When people talk about engagement over views, what they’re actually chasing is connection. Because connection is what drives everything else: → The warm DMs → The referrals → The "I’ve been following you for months" sales calls → The audience that actually listens When you chase virality, you lose that feedback loop. The analytics become useless - distorted by inflated numbers that don’t reflect what your real audience finds valuable. Yes, you can go viral posting content everyone agrees with. But for 99% of people, that strategy isn’t aligned with the why behind their content in the first place. If it’s an awareness play - great. But that only works when there’s a clear spotlight shining back onto something else you’re building. Most of us (myself included) end up over-indexing on these kinds of posts - often unintentionally - and eventually start sounding like everyone else. Heard this phrase? “People don’t want money. They want what money can buy.” You don’t want followers. You want what engaged followers bring. Instead, focus on the EDI framework: E - Share your Expertise and help others from your experience. D - Document what you’re working on and who you’re becoming. I - Humanise your posts by sharing more of your Interests. Show your personality. Have fun. So the next time you post, pause, and ask yourself: “Is this something only I could have shared?” Because in a feed of AI content, that’s what will stop people from scrolling. That’s what builds a connection. And that’s what will lead to the outcomes you were hoping for in the first place.

Want to know my career highlight? Working with a superstar who cold-emailed ME. Let me explain how I met Ayushi Jain... Ayushi emailed me out of the blue and then followed up 4x times before I replied. Why didn't I reply to her at first? I honestly didn't see her email. Traveling? Inbox chaos? Who knows. But I almost missed out - and that would’ve been my loss. Lesson: People are busy. This is your reminder to always follow-up because wow, working with Ayushi has been a dream. If you know you'd be a great fit for a business, see it as your personal mission to get in front of them however you can. Didn’t get a reply? Try again. Don't take silence personally. Persevere. If you still don't get a response, and you genuinely could’ve helped them, it's THEIR loss. Move on and give that energy to somebody else. Ayushi proved competency immediately - she wanted to work for Amplify as a content writer and so she showed me she could write upfront. She got my attention with the subject line "Just a 20-something shooting her shot” and her first email contained a branded deck pitching herself. Her eye for design was obvious and the copywriting was great. Lesson: Show don’t tell. Take the extra time upfront and your response rate will 5x - this extends to any industry or role. I've learned the hard way that business really does come down to hiring the right people. Scared of reaching out to people and brands you love? Well I'm personally so grateful Ayushi messaged me and that will be the case for the companies you know you can help. It’s been the perfect fit working together and this would never have happened without her going first. Lesson: Shoot your shot and aim high. It's now my goal to: 1. Keep Ayushi as happy as possible 2. Create an environment conducive to how she works best 3. Support all of her goals (professionally and personally) Thank you Ayushi, I'm blessed to be working with you and beyond excited for what we're building together. When you find the right team, magic happens.

Lara Acosta called me out. There was nowhere to hide. "Why haven't you created a course yet?" “My first product was built in Notion. I then got feedback and improved it. Why haven't you done anything?" Every time I got close to selling something I stopped and made it free. My reasoning was that I wanted to keep providing value. But the real truth? That was just a limiting belief. I’ve spent the last 7 years working with world-class people. We serve our clients every single day at the forefront of our industry. All of that lived experience? Definitely valuable. Yes, we should have a high bar for what we charge for. But my high bar? It was just an excuse. Today is the last day of our founding member’s cohort. It’s been an incredible experience teaching what we know for 4 weeks. This is now the start. I’ll no longer: - Hide behind perfectionism - Avoid selling Maybe you’re like me... you’ve told yourself a story that isn’t true. And not only is it holding you back, it’s holding back every single person you can help. Sales is a service. That moment gave me the push I needed. Not to create something perfect. But to start. Here's what worked for me: 1. Be open to what might be holding you back 2. Get closer to those in your field 3. Only take directions from someone who’s been to where you’re going Life is not a zero-sum game. When you hear the right advice from the right person? Everything clicks.

              208

Unpopular opinion: Be obsessed with what you create. Too often, we hold back, fearing what might happen if we pour everything into it. But playing small comes at a high cost: ↳ Your progress slows down. ↳ Your passion starts to fade. ↳ Your potential is never fully realised. All because: ↳ You fear rejection and criticism. ↳ You worry about what others will think if we fail. ↳ You think we need to have all the answers before we start. The truth is: your craft needs your obsession. It thrives on the energy, time, and love you pour into it. Here’s how to begin: ↳ Let go of perfectionism. ↳ The process is messy - accept that. ↳ Focus on creating, not just on outcomes. ↳ Find joy in the journey of refining your craft. ↳ Treat it like a relationship - show up consistently. ↳ Schedule dedicated time for your art, no excuses. ↳ Each mistake is an opportunity to iterate and grow. ↳ Shift your mindset: the more you fail, the more you learn. ↳ Get inspired by others’ stories, but stay true to your own voice. It’s not just about creating art. It’s about letting your art consume you in the best way possible. CC: Zach Pogrob ♻️ Repost this if you know someone who needs to hear this message.

Hey I'm Joe! I spend 30 minutes a day replying to AI comments and I don't know what to do about it 🤪 How about you?

                233

I spent 4 days surrounded by leaders of all ages. I returned home full of energy and inspiration. Some of my favourite takeaways were shared by Florence Gaub, Director of NATO Defence College. Here are 3 skills the world needs most right now: 1. Agility > Ability Can you adapt to circumstances? Can you emotionally regulate yourself? 2. Don’t be a collector of facts, be a connector of facts Identify the links, the possibilities, and get creative. The ability to see something new is something AI can’t replace (at least not right now) 3. Curiosity Nobody has all the answers, but what questions do you ask? Work on your humanity. Work on your openness. Work on your empathy. Focus on what makes you human and develop opinions - then change your opinions! As shared by Abdullahi Alim, CEO of The Africa Future Fund, we should spend more time understanding, learning and diagnosing. Go deeper on a problem and ask: “Why is this a problem?” “Why are things how they are?” “How does this problem still exist?” Action is important - but how often do we stop to really think? After many inspiring chats with Adishree Bansal, Founder and CEO of Pleasantri, I feel inspired to journal and to write more. Today there’s too much parroting - people repeating what they’ve heard without lived experience. Question those rented opinions. If you can’t explain why when asked to elaborate, your argument, opinion, or perspective has only one layer of defence. Learn about other cultures, different countries, and take what’s working in other industries into your own. Why not you? Bringing an idea to reality will change your life. The process of going from A-Z is the real skill today - it requires courage, ambition, focus and discipline. Growth starts with improving how you think. To end with my favourite quote from the event: “Stay open to the people, places and perspectives you don’t yet understand.”

                  225

LinkedIn is still the highest-leverage platform in 2025. (If you’re serious about growing, save this) 1 in 5 people now use AI to write content. But here’s the problem: LinkedIn is flooded with generic posts and AI-written comments. The issue isn’t AI itself. It’s how we choose to use it. Here’s how to use AI to write authentically: 1. Sign-up to Taplio for free. 2. Use the Chrome extension to pull in insights and post ideas. 3. Go to Inspiration → Search by topic. 4. Add filters based on your account size and audience. 5. Tap Edit & Post → Then generate “AI variations” 6. Pick a version that feels on-brand to you and prompt it like you would in ChatGPT. 7. Adjust the hook and add in final details from your experience to make it original. 8. Schedule your post directly from the dashboard. Results? ↳ You get pre-validated ideas fast, and you save hours every week. This isn’t about letting AI take over your writing. This is a workflow to use when you get super busy and need a starting point. Creating content based on what’s already worked is just moving smart. 🎁 I got you the best deal available Try 30 days of any Taplio plan for $1 Just use code JOEG1X1 when signing up at Taplio.com - enjoy 😎 ♻️ Repost to help a creator sleep better tonight.

I just turned 28 🎂 Usually, I take my birthdays off. But this year? I’m working - and honestly, I’m glad. Our first cohort is underway and the feedback has been golden. We’re learning so much by doing - about our students, about what they actually want, and how to make this better every time. In true creator fashion, swipe through my 28 hard-earned lessons from launching my first digital product. Here are 10 of my favourites: 1. Test before you launch Our Founding Members cohort saved us from launching something half-baked. We almost didn't do this and that would've been the biggest mistake - it would've been 💩 2. Music changes everything The right playlist sets the mood. Lofi for focus. Upbeat for energy. Tomorrow I'm testing different playlists as it really makes a difference. 3. Something will go wrong and that’s OK I'm teaching 16 hours of live sessions for the first time with a new microphone/audio set-up, recording on my camera... there's so many variables and naturally something will slip. Focus on what you can control and relax. 4. You can mute yourself Apparently, no one wants to hear me chug water mid-session. Me gulping water was unwanted ASMR - just some of the great feedback I've received lol. 5. Invite people up to speak My misconception was that inviting people to speak live would derail sessions - it doesn't, it enhances them! Set expectations by giving people a time limit and then let them take the floor. 6. Details make the difference It's an easier ride to not care about the details, but I promise you it's worth it. We're doing local recordings to capture raw footage and then editing the files within 24 hours. Make something you're proud of. 7. Know your group We’re tracking everything we learn about each person. It’s time-consuming but it's probably my favourite thing that we're doing. 8. Use enrolment forms wisely Capture why people signed up, what they want, and what they’ve tried. This shapes how you support them and will really be felt. 9. Teaching live = a full-day job at the beginning In the first week, on both teaching days, I was rehearsing my notes, then I set everything up, I taught live for 2 hours, then we did a bonus Q&A for 30 minutes, then we did a 30-minute debrief and then I prepared the files to send to an editor overnight. It's now week 2 and I already have more headspace, but when it's your first time it definitely feels intense. 10. Be a sponge for all feedback Want to create the best product and experience possible? Leave your ego at the door and take onboard every piece of feedback. Are you procrastinating launching a project? Simply announcing the date made this whole thing real. If you’ve got an idea you’re sitting on: go public with it. Deadlines are magic. Not the made up kind... real deadlines that have a real consequence if you don't hit them (like letting people down) So grateful to be on this journey with an amazing group. Hope this helps! ✌️

I got the bus every morning at 7am to a job I hated. This went on for 10 months. I thought I had to “do corporate” like everybody else. But I didn’t want to climb the ladder. It just didn’t feel right to me that my own pace of growth could be decided by somebody else. To change my 9-5 I began to assess my 5-9. I spent hours immersing myself in books and podcasts for new perspectives. I reached out to people I admired and worked for them for free to gain proximity. Slowly but surely, I began to test the waters of different avenues that felt more aligned with what I was drawn to. I’ve been self-employed now for 6 years and I’ve never looked back. I was able to do this from ONE realisation 👇 Even if the worse case scenario happened - I was always going to be safe: - I had incredible parents who supported me - I had time on my side - I had the determination to make it work I couldn’t spell entrepreneurship and thought Companies House was a building. But fast forward to today, I’m still in the game and I love the challenge every day brings. With the freedom and flexibility I could only dream of. This post isn’t to brag. It’s to encourage you to start. Leaving your job or starting a business is just a decision. From no prior experience, I’ve learned everything by taking action and from the amazing mentors you meet along the way. I didn’t wait for a promotion. I didn’t accept my best ideas being stolen by management. I took a chance on myself and it’s paid off. “Entrepreneurship is like building a plane as it falls out of the sky.” - Reid Hoffman
