Roark's Drift

As a result of a successful 2012 IPO (Hudson's Bay Co. - $2B market cap) and the realization that technology would continue to play a disruptive force in the retail industry, Roark’s Drift was formed in 2015 to make opportunistic investments in the consumer space. While my circle of competence and network are largely consumer focused, I am industry agnostic given the right opportunity and co-investors.

I seek to partner with ambitious founders alongside experienced co-investors and remain actively involved with my portfolio companies. Roark’s Drift makes early stage investments (post-launch with demonstrable revenue traction).

Terran Orbital (NYSE:LLAP) – (exit - NYSE)
Leading global provider of nanosatellite vehicles, services, and solutions to U.S. military/government agencies, universities, and commercial enterprises.  Closed a $36M Series B led by Lockheed Martin, Beach Point Capital, and Goldman Sachs. Terran Orbital went public on 3/28/22 at a $1.6B valuation. 

Inkbox (inkbox.com) – (exit - acquired by BIC)
The 2 week temporary tattoo sensation shipped to over 90 countries.  Raised a $10M Series A led by Maveron, Founders Fund, and Golden Ventures before being acquired.

Surf (joinsurf.com) - Investor
Surf is a privacy-first browser extension that allows you to passively earn from the data you choose to share while browsing online.  Raised a seed round led by Kyle Kuzma, Clearbanc co-founders, and Jason Robins (CEO DraftKings).  

Nillion (nillion.com) – Investor
Nillion is a computer and network security company that provides node operation that signifies implications for data, security, and privacy. Recently raised an oversubscribed $20MM Seed round.  

Loverboy (drinkloverboy.com)
Zero sugar sparkling hard / seltzer tea brand.

Wink & Nod (winknod.com) - Co-Founder & CFO
VC backed DTC brand.  Indian gov shut down the shipment of non-essentials due to Covid-19 and company assets sold to a retail conglomerate.

The Company is a pioneer in the miniaturization of space technologies, making space responsive, with the ability to quickly and economically design, build and launch state-of-the-art satellites.

Terran Orbital went public on the NYSE in a deSPAC transaction at a $1.6B valuation and began trading in Q1 22'.

Terran Orbital closed a $36M Series B led by Lockheed Martin, Goldman Sachs, and Beach Point Capital.

Terran Orbital is the parent company of PredaSAR, which closed a $25M Series A round in March 2020.

Wink & Nod

Wink & Nod raised multiple rounds of venture funding as it scaled to an impressive ARR but ceased operations in March as the Indian government stopped the shipment of non-essential goods as a result of Covid-19.  Company assets were sold to an Indian retail conglomerate.

The future of brick & mortar retail is highly experiential, data-driven, and tech enabled.  Our retail studios, combined with our fully integrated AI driven online "fit-filter" will empower consumers to shop more confidently in a highly curated way while allowing brands to significantly reduce returns and improve unit economics across channels.

Created an officially licensed collegiate watch company with distribution on Fanatics and over 50 major US schools. Raised over $10M of VC funding.

Limited partnership holding company created to steward portfolio company investments in Lord & Taylor in the United States and Hudson's Bay Company in Canada.  Hudson's Bay Company  successfully completed its IPO (TSX:HBC) in 2012 and subsequently acquired Saks Fifth Avenue, Galeria Kaufhof, and Gilt Group.
