The Rome Foundation Research Institute (RFRI) is a subsidiary organization of the Rome Foundation, an international non-profit academic organization dedicated to improving the lives of patients with Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction (DGBI) formerly called Functional GI Disorders. The RFRI was created in 2018 to advance the scientific understanding of DGBI through development of a semi-autonomous entity that will promote and support research in the field or DGBI.  https://theromefoundation.org/research-institute-rome-foundation/Vision.

We strive to be the global leader in DGBI research with a mission of improving the lives of patients with DGBI through ground-breaking research, by increasing the knowledge of the causes, identification, treatment and care of patients with DGBI and by establishing an international academic research initiative with leading experts, in order to facilitate global DGBI research through collaboration with industry and academic partners. We developed a centralized data acquisition and research coordinating center and serve as an international clearinghouse for investigators and industry in the development, administration and analysis of clinical research in DGBIs. Additionally, collaborated with international board of directors to introduce a centralized data acquisition and research coordinating center to aid in creating, administering, and analyzing clinical research in patients. Develops a database of study protocols that is used to answer specific questions about DGBI. Manage research program contracting and deliverable schedule with Principle Investigators and team. Provide support for design of statistical analysis protocol and work with team and data manager to clean data and deliver to bio-statistical team for review and analysis. Co-author of study abstracts and manuscripts for submission to gastroenterology peer reviewed journals stemming from projects from the Rome Research Institute.

Executive Administrator of Research

Rome Foundation is an international non-profit academic organization that works to expand the knowledge of the causes, identifiers, treatment, and care of patients suffering from Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction (DGBI). We do work to improve quality of life through an international academic research initiative in collaboration with leading experts: 
Manages daily operations of the Foundation and oversees a staff composed of six employees. Provides oversight and input into new projects and initiatives that benefit the Foundation. Collaborates with industry and society contacts, pharmaceutical sponsors, and other groups as liaison for coordinated efforts and education. Writes grants and organizes post-grant reporting and requests. Oversees all public aspects, including marketing, sales, education, social media and research grants while fostering new relationships with KOLs and others in the GI field. Collaborates with President, COO, and Board of directors to implement new programs and educational initiatives in increase engagement and drive clinical relevance of our work for the practicing clinician.
Key Contributions:
	Raised over $10 million in grant funding for research and educational programs

Finally, as a patient advocate in the Gastroenterology field, I work to provide the patient perspective to Rome programs and educational materials. In 2018-2021, I participated in faculty panels for webinars as well as serving as a co-facilitator in small group trainings for clinicians, offering the patient perspective on patient/provider communications and the burden of illness. I am a thought leader in the patient education and advocacy space with regular blogs, podcasts and webinars with partners to reach the GI clinicians and patients.

Steelbridge Ministries

Steelbridge is a not-for profit organization dedicated to addressing the issue of homelessness and providing emergency and long-term shelter and rehabilitation programs for men and women in Albuquerque, NM. In my role, I served as the lead for the development and marketing department & overseeing a large staff. I was tasked with the creation and oversight of all efforts in development and marketing, communication and strategy for the increase of revenue through direct mail, major gift solicitation and event based fundraising. 

As a result of board decision, I lead the effort to change all direct mail communication pieces, revamping the message, look and feel of mail while developing key benchmarks needed to provide feedback on performance and other metrics. Additionally, I lead a massive re-branding campaign, including name development and logo design, working closely with external marketing professionals. I worked with an external design consultant to create a development strategy for media buys, social media, e-newsletters, open house events, press conferences, media requests, name and logo copyrighting and all direct mail associated with the re-brand effort. I worked with a local videographer to provide creation of four commercials highlighting the work of the organization for both name branding and donor solicitation.

Thanks to our efforts, my team met a revenue goal of 2.7 million dollars through estate and planned giving, direct mail solicitation, major gift stewardship and event-based fundraising.

The Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation leads donor driven giving for hospital service lines, planned giving and patient financial assistance programs. In my role as Director of Annual Giving, I was responsible for Annual Giving Community Cornerstone Campaigns; including direct appeal, mail and online solicitation and was responsible for the Guardian Angel Grateful Patient Recognition program as well, allowing patients the opportunity to recognize a clinical or administrative staff member for exceptional service. I was responsible for strategic planning and organization around the annual giving campaigns and growth of all annual giving campaigns to support the mission and needs of Presbyterian. I also oversaw the implementation of the Annual Giving Society, a new social media campaign and coordinated email campaign.

American Academy of Pediatrics

The American Academy of Pediatrics, New Mexico Chapter is dedicated to the health and well-being of all children and provides advocacy, clinical support and education to ensure access to quality health care for all children in New Mexico. As Executive Director, I was responsible for all grant funding to increase our ability to provide quality CME programs to pediatric physicians and allied health care providers in New Mexico. I managed fourteen sub-committees related to healthcare management, quality outcomes, access to quality healthcare for children, advocacy and pediatric resident outreach. I was responsible for all marketing to members, residents, and medical students throughout the state and increased membership by 25% during my tenure.  I created and updated the website and the quarterly newsletter, “The Enchanted Pediatrician” and maintained all membership databases, donor databases and financial databases. Administratively, I created and maintained financial reports for the Board and worked with accountant to maintain all grants and tax reports and was responsible for all grant writing and post grant management, receiving over $100,000 in grants each year in my tenure. 

In order to provide education opportunities, I coordinated all aspects of the annual Wylder Lecture CME Series, including speaker engagements, venue requirements, registration and payment of attendees, vendors and sponsors and coordinated all aspects of event accreditation for attendees with the NMMS. I worked with other medical societies in the state to ensure that the health needs of all children in the state are being met, particularly focusing on the needs of children in foster care and children with special needs.

She is past COO and Executive Director of the Rome Foundation, an international non-profit organization that focuses on expanding knowledge on the causes, treatment options, identifiers, and care methods of patients who struggle with DGBI. 

Ms. Ruddy has 24 years of executive nonprofit management experience for various healthcare and social justice organizations. She holds a B.S. in Political Science and Government and an MEd in Education. She is currently a Doctoral candidate in Health Science, focusing on Population Health.
