I am a chartered mathematician through the UK Institute of Mathematics. Retired and the sole carer of my wife who has several medical issues. I would describe myself today as a technology and industry watcher. I wrote test schedules for System X before becoming a simulation expert at BT's research labs in Suffolk. Through my work I developed an invention - the Orwell Slotted Ring local area network protocol. Its capabilities persuaded BT that packet technologies were capable of carrying voice and real-time services as well as data. See my publications https://leicester.academia.edu/JAdams This and several other developments around the world created the beginning of broadband service networks. Such networks were initially based on a fixed length packet rather like that in Orwell. Worldwide, many of us collaborated to make that early broadband service network a technical reality. For my part, I created a send/ receive service on passive optical networks that fan out towards people's homes. My proposed bandwidth management of the upstream optical path was evaluated as the first ever statement of so-called "dynamic TDMA", a component of DOCSIS, WiMax, Bluetooth [update: BT changed its policy and dropped this patent dispute with no final resolution]. Of course, our initial work became replaced by the IP technology we have today. I developed some new technology that would track the millions of different IP flows in a fibre. This became known as Flow State Aware (FSA) technology. In 2007 I was appointed CTO of Razoom, Inc developing new FSA products. A successful prototype was produced, tracking every flow in a 10Gbit/s fibre. It could automatically give more bandwidth to customer preferred flows, including video or voice flows. Sadly second round venture capital funds were not secured in this constrained market. My current interests include quantum computing, AI, quantum field theory, general relativity, and I am a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London. I have a Ph.D. in mathematics. This was a study of tidal motions on planets with very deep oceans where I discovered a revised flip point for how tides heap up in a different way than on our Earth's oceans. Specialties: Simulation expert, QoS expert, Broadband expert, international standards negotiations expert.
