Over the years I have assessed the feasibility of products, services, technologies and systems that are available/appropriate for treasury departments. I have overseen the development/implementation of effective, integrated systems for budgeting, payables, reporting and auditing revenues, expenditures, and asset accountability. As well as overseeing cash management initiatives, bank relationships, day-to-day treasury operations, both fiat and digital currency. I understand short-term borrowing needs and have as a consequence recommended short-term investing initiatives with cash and near cash alternatives. My primary functions have included: - Evaluating, developing, recommending fiscal policies. - Applying financial perspective/analysis for business decisions. - Overseeing all cash management functions. - Maintaining/cultivating banking relationships. - Recommending items for strategic planning and alternative financing strategies. - Working within the digital/cryptocurrency industry. - Working closely with ranking agencies such as S&P and developing triple-A rated products/services. - Developing payment and FX platforms. - Keeping abreast of new fintech as it comes to market including crypto/blockchain. - Overseeing international banking relationships. - Analysing/communicating financial operating results to provide information and guidance. - Participating with the company leaders in the preparation of annual treasury budgets. - Serving as Subject Matter Expert for treasury questions and valuation matters. - Ensuring that consistent/standardised processes exist regarding the development of annual budgets and monthly reporting regarding actual performance relative to approved budgets. My Career History I have nearly 30 years experience within treasury and foreign exchange dealing, from my roots back in Johannesburg South Africa in 1984. In 1998, I relocated to the Isle of Man to establish an offshore treasury operation for the Rennies Group which was subsequently taken over by the Bidvest Group. In 2000, I joined Dimension Data, as Group Treasurer where I managed over £2 billion following their successful listing on the FTSE100. I was instrumental in setting up their ‘in-house’ banking operation and implemented their global cash management program. In 2007 I joined Capital Treasury Services as a founding director and shareholder for over ten years, and in September 2017 I started a new venture at IBB Limited. I am also a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and a founder member of the Association of Charity Treasurers on the island.
