Nelco-Dielektra (UK) (subsidiary of Park Electrochemical Corporation)

A subsidiary of Park Electrochemical with a turnover in excess of $600M operating from 11 manufacturing locations worldwide employing almost four thousand staff. The UK facility had a turnover in excess of £25M and employed two hundred personnel. The site operated 168 hours a week 365 days of the year, manufacturing and supplying laminates and glass-cloths to the electronics industry.
Reporting to the Operations Director, I held total responsibility for all quality and process engineering related issues at the Skelmersdale location, with a diverse range of operations including several clean-room processes. I was also involved in the strategic management of the UK site and a member of the European Management Team. In addition to this I was part of the global Quality Management and Improvement Team. The position required frequent travel to sister sites suppliers and customers situated in North America and mainland Europe. 
The UK Quality &amp; Environmental Department consisted of 1 Quality Engineer, 1 Process Engineer, with two on site test laboratories, four laboratory technicians 17 product inspectors and an administrative assistant. I was frequently left in charge of operations of the UK plant with responsibility for the entire UK management team activities.

Remploy Textile Group

Reporting to the Group Quality Director for the effective management of an ISO9001 accredited Quality System. Further to this I held responsibility for the inspection and test functions heading a team of ten Quality Control Inspectors and one Quality Supervisor, ensuring product quality and compliance to customer specifications, ranging from mail order to MOD and Automotive trade contracts.

I held responsibility for all aspects of quality from raw materials to finished goods at the Wigan based site. During my employment with Remploy I was involved in a number of initiatives to improve product quality, reduce waste and improve production efficiency. I was heavily involved in the introduction of new manufacturing systems. 

When I first joined Remploy it was during the latter stages of registration to ISO9000 via BSI. This involved a significant amount of preparation of quality procedures and auditing to ensure successful accreditation to the standard. The system was later successfully transferred to accreditation by SGS Yardsley Ltd.
