I’ve spent my whole life around businesses. I grew up in the one started by my Father. I went on to become its second-generation owner and President. I founded several businesses along the way. After more than ten years, I decided that it was time to exit the business in order to pursue other opportunities. We had experienced advisors that we trusted to handle it. It seemed simple enough. It wasn’t. We had no idea how many financial, tax and legal issues there were to consider, let alone the impact that it would have on all of us personally. After years of meetings and countless strategies, we settled on an agreement that none of us were happy with. In the end, we just didn’t have a business capable of providing all of us with what we really wanted. We weren’t alone. As a business buyer I saw countless owners that were struggling with the same issues that my family had years before. Disorganized finances, vague long-term goals, incomplete exit strategies and poor contingency planning just to name a few. Most won't realize it until it's too late. They will have to settle for outcomes that they never could have imagined. The good news, is that it's all easily preventable with the right planning. That is why I decided to become a Certified Exit Planning Advisor. To take my unique experience as a business founder, second generation owner and buyer to improve the outcomes for business owners.
