I would spend my last dollar on knowledge and be so thirty for that knowlege I would drink sand.



Knowledge is forever, and never leaves you.

You can build on it and share it with your children, friends, and neighbors.

I often get DMs from strangers asking to “pick my brain,” but they balk at me when I ask them $1000 (inflation) for my time.

“I can’t afford that,” yet they think I should stop what I’m doing and share my knowledge. I’ve spent a lifetime accumulating and they thing I should just give it away.

Reading, traveling away from home for siminars, and tens of thousands of dollars I or my employers have spent to level up my skills in the art of sales and negotiation.

The hours of practice in front of a mirror, or role paying with peers.

I say, “If you can’t afford $1000, you've got bigger problems.”

Less than 3 months ago, I started trading (options, day, and swing).  I spent $2000 for knowledge from someone successful, ~$100 in books, and listened to podcasts that have turned into over $320,808 this week $93,925.43.

That’s 10 cruises this week (20 if you go on Carnival), and 1/2 of my goal to buy a $600,000 RV.

Today, I will trade two stocks, bringing me over $150K for the week.

All I did was seek knowledge and surround myself with people smarter than me, like Bill Fanter.

I joined a group that Ryan Paul had started, where highly successful professionals shared their skills. 

We all come from different backgrounds, bring different skillsets, and share those openly.

I share what I think, and others do the same, so we can all make informed decisions about investing.

If someone in the group needed my skills and I am a fit like sales and closing, I wouldn’t hesitate to raise my hand or jump on a plane.

We ALL contribute, and no one is in the group for a free ride.

Let me tell you about FREE shit.

I tell my children, “If it’s free, it’s not worth it.  Nothing is free; someone is paying for it.”

The pizza at the office wasn’t free; you paid for it instead of the commissions you didn’t get.

Pizza is much cheaper than giving you 5% more in commissions.

Those free hot dogs at a car dealership to get you to come in might be free to eat, but they paid for an opportunity to swing the bat and sell you a car.

Repeat after me, “Nothing in life is ever free.”

So, the next time you send a DM to “pick your brain” or “talk shop” and ask you to break out your checkbook, don’t get offended, but appreciate that if they are charging, chances are they got something they’ve spent a lifetime perfecting.

I got this message from NTG’s ‘SENIOR Freight Broker’, who has been going strong for two months right out of college.



Mike thought it was insane that I posted about when I hit strangers with the $1000 line when they asked me for my time.

People don’t want to ask me a yes or no question; they want to get on a call and use their words, “pick my brain,” and stay on the phone as long as I will allow.

I didn't answer Mike's first DM because we were not connected, and went right for the jugular instead of starting a conversation the right way.

I get the overseas folks trying their damndest to make a buck, bombarding shippers, but these big US-based 3PLs who pass out titles of “senior Freight Broker” like it’s candy and give no training perplex’s me.

How much credibility do you really have when you say you are a “senior”, which means “experienced, expert, and trusted”, then the decision maker quickly realizes you are full of shit.

It shows me how much change needs to be made in this industry, yet we continue to fake it rather than be honest with potential clients.

Because I was new once in automotive sales and recently in 2019 in logistics, being honest about being new can give you advantages in onboarding new business.

If I were new again, my first words might be, “I’m new at logistics, but I'm eager…”

I promise you I will get business by telling the truth.

To the young folks: It’s OK to be honest about being new; what you say after telling them you are new is the most important thing.

What do you say next?  

If I was a shipper and someone were honest with me, like I was with Max Cutler, and told him, “I don’t have produce experience,” Max replied, “It’s OK; I’ll teach you.”

And I'm over here doing a copy/paste, changing dates, and pressing send, and not doing any of this nonsense.



You can't grow if you have to do this, as it leaves no time for prospecting.

If someone has fraudulent intentions in their heart, they will find a way, just like a person with a heroin addiction finds a way to get their fix.

Quit this insanity. There is a better way.

In 2025, my BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee plan was $2133 a month; this year, for the SAME coverage, it is $3141.34 or $1008.34 more.


Due to our income, we don't qualify for any ACA subsidies, and since my wife left the hospital system, we now must foot the bill for healthcare.

Fortunately, I work for my company, it does very well, and it will pay $37,696.08 for health coverage in 2026.

Due to a life-saving drug that they do not make a generic for due to my daughter's epilepsy, we must pay for a plan that is covered on their formulary, or be forced to pay $4500 a month for the medicine.

So, for those who have not looked (open enrollment starts tomorrow), and you use the Healthcare Marketplace, be ready for a hell of an eye-opening increase.

I told my wife that we lost $150K of the $337K I made over the past 3 months due to a fight between the USA and China that was not on anyone’s bingo card today.



She said only, “OK,” and then walked away to lie by the pool.

I advise anyone considering retail trading (options, swing, or day).

1. If you can’t be honest and tell your spouse about losses or they will get upset if you do.
2. If you lose sleep at night.
3. If the money were to be used for a college fund, emergency fund, etc.

You might want to rethink your intentions.

There is a reason why only 21% of Americans own stocks directly (not through a 401 (k) or pension).

No 3PL would allow a client to demo their services and move freight with a zero invoice.



As an agent, I would.

You want to demo my services and compare them to my competitors, I’m okay with that.

You don't know me, and if my clients' testimonials and referral letters aren't good enough, let’s have a 'rubber meets the road' moment.

I want to be measured on how my email response rate is <1 minute versus my competition.

I want to be measured on whether I pick up on the first ring, not the 5th voicemail.

I want to be measured on when my “team” is supposed to be covering, but they never respond.

I want to be measured so that if something goes sideways at 2 AM, I fix it, rather than 8 hours later when the appointment is missed and everyone is all pissed off.

Now, I’m not going to give bottom feeders free transportation, but as an agent, if it's a legit business that needs more, and you want to compare me with your current offerings, I’m open to that.

I’m confident that you will appreciate my services. 

The same level of service I provide on the first few loads will be consistent throughout.

Would you be willing to offer a free demo of what you have to offer?  Chances are, if you are a W2, the answer is no, but as an agent, that’s the beauty of what I do: it’s my money.

I would rather have my wife say, “You tried,” than never dare to try.

And what is courage without fear? Fear is needed to fuel courage. Anxiety seems to be often involved in this process. It's an unpleasant feeling, but it is usually a byproduct of doing something courageous.

Underwater deep scuba drivers practice breathing techniques to expand their lung capacity. 

Also, to hold and maintain the reserved oxygen and let depletion happen. 

That defies the instinct of the emotional response system within the brain and body. 

The learned poise and stamina are due to practice and testament to the human body's capacity to expand our limitations.

So, if we can train our mind and body not to fear the lack of oxygen that keeps us alive, we can train ourselves to have the courage to be courageous.

To step outside of our comfort zone.

Last night, I spoke to a fella considering becoming an agent.

I told him, “On days when I am full of fear, I think about inspiring people, and draw courage from their words and actions, knowing that I can think differently and act differently too.

Then I turn to the Bible, which is full of stories and inspiration.  The Bible gives me the courage to endure and fight the Devil’s snares. It gives me hope and motivates me to be courageous because I know God is always with me.”

As men, we have to learn how to provide and protect first, and then we can procreate.

That’s the 3 P’s.

That is the duty of a man. 

If you can achieve the three, then you will go on to create your Herculean feats because you built an army to support you and give you the courage to do courageous things.

I just renewed my ZoomInfo subscription for $1800 or $150 a month.


If I were not part of the LDI group pricing plan, a basic plan license would cost $15,000 per year, and my Advanced+ plan, which includes all the features, would be much more.

Here is the sad part: I don't use it, but for $150 a month, if I needed to find someone's email or mobile (I am not calling the office line), I have it at my fingertips.

But if I didn't have a pipeline of referrals and folks finding me through my postings, which comes with time, I would definitely be leveraging Zoominfo to grow.

If I owned a 3PL, this would be a value-add for your freight agents, enabling them to target clients (not spray-and-pray emails and calls).

If you used NAICS codes (North American Industry Classification System) properly to target specific types of businesses, you could really dial in to what you are good at.

For example, I might target high-value businesses, high-security, driver-assist/multi-stop (cabinets/windows), or Hazmat, since I work in that space daily and have plenty of clients who would vouch for my work product.

Or folks tied to doing business with the US Government, like the USDA or FEMA.

It's easy for me to talk about Hazmat; for example, I do it daily, so the conversation with a potential client would go really smoothly, and they would quickly conclude that I'm credible.

These tools, like ZoomInfo, can be a game-changer for growing your business to the next level if you target smartly, leverage your expertise, and really do your research.

If you are an agent for a 3PL, bringing up the fact that $150 would be something you would invest in, which, if we are being honest, is less than you blow anyway a month on things like coffee and chips.

If you make more, the agency makes more too.   Is your 3PL investing in your growth?

This is part of my secret recipe to success as a freight broker, and Bezos' thinking aligns with mine.

Why do women get in free to bars yet men have to pay?



Because men will flock where women are congregating in the hopes of getting laid.

Men will also pay a premium for drinks for the ladies, and have no issue paying for entry.

Even at a swingers party, men must pay to enter.

When I was in the automotive industry, I used to have an open house every 4th of July.  

All the cars were unlocked, and I invited everyone in the community to come by and see all the models. I also had tons of food.

There would be costs of radio and TV ads promoting our event.

Radio would be onsite broadcasting live promoting free giveaways.

That food would cost me $5000 for the weekend. I hope to turn that $5000 into $500,000 or more in gross profit.

Every year, a family would drive up, get out, eat, never look at our inventory, and leave.

In year 3, I was waiting on them.  They pulled up, and before they could exit the car, I went over and grabbed some food, reached it through the window, and said, “See you next year.”

Many think like that. They scour ads and social media looking for free things and will spend a tank of gas chasing $50 in free shit.

Then some don’t believe that things in life are free.

I say it all the time, “If it’s free, it’s not worth it.”

We know our freedoms are not free, and there has been bloodshed of 108 million US service members who were killed in wars in the twentieth century alone.

As a parent, I’m responsible for teaching my children about life and what really is free.

Kindness is free, having compassion is free.

I asked them what they got for free, and they replied, “Free lunch at school.”

Is school lunch free? No. It might be for the students, but the taxpayer pays for it under the USDA SLP, which has signed into law by Truman in July of 1946.

Your Gmail is not even free.  They take your data and sell it to serve you ads so that you will buy shit based on your browsing and spending habits.

People and companies make BILLIONS off those who chase free, because they are the easiest to persuade into buying with what in marketing calls a “Hook.”

The bait you with free to hook you into spending money.

So for those who expect folks to give you free goods, knowlege, skills, or services, try the opposite, pay for the quality and I bet you will get more from paying than what you got for free.

This EBT/SNAP social media frenzy is hilarious to watch play out.  



So let me get this straight — at 12:01 a.m. on November 1, every pantry and freezer belonging to someone on SNAP… evaporates?

The milk curdles, the rice turns to dust, and the frozen chicken vanishes into a government cloud? Is there a secret CIA program that repossesses Hot Pockets the moment Congress misses a vote? 

Because the way the media tells it, you’d think the entire food supply of America is wired to the federal budget like a doomsday clock. One minute you’re making spaghetti, the next your cupboards are empty and a drone’s confiscating your canned beans for “national security.”

People are not going to starve on November 1st if the Government doesn’t reopen.

Entitlement without obligations is a byproduct of the US Government.

What they say: "Let's take this offline."
What they mean: You're making me look bad in front of everyone.

What they say: "We need to leverage our bandwidth"
What they mean: Can you work 60 hours instead of 40?

What they say: "This is a high-visibility project"
What they mean: When this fails, everyone will know it was your fault

What they say: "We're a family here"
What they mean: We expect you to sacrifice everything for us, but we'll fire you without hesitation

I spent decades translating this nonsense.

Now I just press buy and sell buttons from home.

The art of persuasion is one of the best skills you can have in sales.   If you master how to get what you want when you want it, you would have zero problems in your life.


You would love to have the ability to persuade anyone to do your bidding.

To be able to give someone exactly what they want (not need) in exchange for what you need is a power of persuasion like no other.

People who master the art of persuasion because they understand that everything in life is negotiable.

They will never shy away from dealing with difficult people.

The best salesman uses the art of persuasion on a daily basis.

As someone who was in the car sales for 25 years, I can say that 90% of the people I sold to didn’t need a new car; their current vehicle was fine.

Sometimes, it was an $80 set of floor mats that closed the deal and generated $4,000 or more in profit.

I recall that early in my sales career, I had a customer who wouldn’t buy a car because they had no down payment because they needed a new TV (mid-90s), when they cost > $1,000.

My boss says, “If we give you a TV, would you buy the car?” 

“Sure.”

He said to me, “I’ll buy a $1000 TV to make $4000.”

I took a pickup and headed to Circuit City.

Inform your audience that you are about to offer them something free. Politicians often use that ploy to garner votes.

If you are a man, we know how persuasion can work on us to do their bidding with the women in our lives.

My daughter, for example, when I hear, “Hey Daddy…,” as she comes to my arms, I’m to the point where I just automatically say yes.

And let’s not forget the persuasion our wives use on us.

This is the third year the women in the home (wife, daughter, and nanny) have been trying to get me to agree to an inflatable Santa.

For three years, I had resisted, but through the art of persuasion, I finally gave in, and a 35-foot inflatable Santa will be in my front yard.

“We have never won the best Christmas contest, get this, Santa, we are guaranteed to win.”

It's not the $50 gift card; they tried that last year, but they finally hit the “what sets us apart” that ultimately caved and gave in.

Persuasion is a tool like any other. Con artists employ persuasion techniques to take advantage of others. MLK and Mahatma Gandhi used the skill to bring out the best in others and effect social change.

Charlie Manson was one of the best at persuasion.

Would you use your persuasion skills to sell someone snake oil? Probably not. 

Would you use them to convince people to buy a product that would add real value to their lives? I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Master the art of persuasion; there are many books on it, and MIT and Harvard have courses about it.

Persuasion is the act of convincing someone to change their beliefs or follow through on a suggestion. Persuasion has often been described as a delicate art form, and I agree.

Learn the 4Ps of persuasion: promise, picture, proof, and push and see what happens to your bank account.
