Hi 👋🏾 I’m Jomarie and I knew I wanted to be an attorney when I was 10 years old. In my report cards, I consistently received comments like “Jomarie talks too much” and “Jomarie finishes her work and helps her classmates.” One of my teachers even complained to my mom that I was too helpful—a complaint that later became the foundation for my purpose: helping others find their voice. When I was 23, I became an attorney and entered the world of personal injury law. This meant cultivating my superpowers of empathy, leadership, and negotiation. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 ✨Negotiated over 200 multi-million dollar claims for a major insurance company, resulting in consistent six to seven-figure savings and reductions of exposure to the Company. ✨Litigated over 380 court matters for the Insurer at the Supreme Court and Resident Magistrate’s Court level; ✨Spearheaded the design, delivery, and compliance requirements for the Proceeds of Crime Act online training annually which was conducted with over 140 staff members; and ✨ Served as an Insurance Association of Jamaica Arbitrator I was an expert at having difficult conversations when I left my corporate job in January 2019. 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐲 I reinvented myself in 2019 as a brand strategist and entrepreneur after being a graphic designer for over 10 years. I received a contract from my first client and it was full of one-sided clauses. The termination and payment provisions were missing, as was any mention that I was a lawyer. When I sent back my revised contract with these items added, the client went silent on me. 🤔 This made me think: What if a creative entrepreneur hadn't been as lucky? 💡I realized that many of my fellow creative entrepreneurs were stuck on contract development, review and negotiation. I decided to combine my background in both the creative and legal arenas to help them get back to building their dream businesses.
