I've always been passionate about building products and using technology to tackle real-world problems. I'm action-oriented and thrive on innovation and leadership. I have 15 years of experience in Full-Stack Web Development and 5 years in Machine Learning (ML) and Cloud Technologies. I have always been interested in working in a startup and this seems as good a time as any! Previously, I worked at Baillie Gifford, where I was played a big part in launching their first systematic investment strategy using machine learning (ML). As an Investment Data Scientist, I developed ML models in Python to predict company growth and share price returns, and oversaw the ML Ops team. Through this experience I learned a lot about equity investing, company financials and machine learning. In addition to this role, at the same time I was also a Software Development Manager for the Investment Research Team where I led a team of six, driving the development of innovative tools and systems. Notably, I spearheaded the creation of a tool to automatically translate highly formatted Chinese Annual Reports to English. I also previously worked at Amazon as a Technical Program Manager. I was the manager of 3 projects including 9 Software Developers in the Dynamic Advertising team. I was responsible for driving business growth of Mobile App Advertising and Amazon Instant Video advertising on third party sites and applications. I learnt a lot in my short time at Amazon, particularly about innovation, leadership and culture which has helped me a lot in my career since.
